Congrats... I built my 1st home when my 3 kids were under 10. They're all pushing 40 yrs old now & the grandkids stay in the same rooms their parents grew up in... All my kids have said that house is like coming home every time ... The acreage has a creek that runs thru it . On one side we cut hay , raised 4H stock & built the barn. On the other is woods that has always been fun for the kids... Memories are about to be made for a lifetime..

Hey you guys deserve it. Man I've been watching your videos Nick since back when you were just posting time lapse equipment, restorations. The fact that your social media platform blew up just means you're good at it and you put out entertaining content. I only found your channel before you had a lot of subscribers because I have always liked big bud tractors. And look I'm still here. Congratulations on your families new house. I could see the look on your wife's face lol..She is ready to pull into a garage this winter!

Rules to go by during construction. 1. Do not change your mind 2. Rooms change size visually during framing and then when the drywall is up, don’t move walls. 3. Do not pick yellow for a paint color 4. Pick the best roofing material you can afford. 5. Spend money on the kitchen, that is where you will spend most of your time. 6. Install insulated overhead garage doors. 7. Install maintenance free siding. 8. Install the most efficient HVAC system you can.

Shallow frost protected footings, radiant heat in the foundation, and ICF construction are so perfect for your area of the country. Amazing tech.

4000’ long road/driveway 😳. That’s 3/4 of a mile long. I think one of the farm trucks is going to need a snow plow on it.

Hi Nick I've been a long time follower. When I built my home I made sure the Kitchen window was facing southeast so the sun would be shining when I make my morning breakfast.

Well you all are doing it smart , glad to see things are working out .. My wife and I are 66 , we collect cars ,sell cars and I own a very large body shop in MA ... hard work and a drive is what makes things happen ... we live in central MA and have a beach house on the water in N.Truro cape cod .. We would have none of it if we had not worked hard .. :) ... ( my wife designs bionics , like the 6 million dollar man lol ) .... you guys just keep pushing and do what you do ... Your doing freaking FANTASTIC in my eyes :) :) :) :)

This is a real farmer literally told you he wouldn’t be able to build a house if it wasn’t for social media. I always liked you because you guys ran case not John Deere but much more respect now. I still live in a single wide trailer with my wife because the market has not been great the last couple years. Beef prices are through the roof and I had an amazing crop so hoping I can start in a year or so. Good luck!

My wife and I built a house in 1985. We were both working and working on the house after work and weekends and holidays and we only had 6 months to do it. It was a very stressful time for her.

good call on the ICF blocks a freind built his home with them from the footing to the rafters there was a saving less labour and the house is super quiet and warm

Hope you will put in a Davis Weather Station and hook it up to WeatherLink! When we were hitting 112 during the day and only getting down to 80 at night, it was so nice to check the weather at Welker Farms and say Ahhhh.

I had to stop this video at 9:30 just to comment about you commenting about siting your home. In my humble opinion, it is the most important thing you can do. One can add so much to the outside of a home that just doesn't matter when inside. Give me a view or in my case, light. For ourselves, being in Southwest Michigan, the gun metal gray of winter is oppressive. When the Wife and I built the second home on our property, in heavily wooded acreage, we sited it so the light (when it shows) floods the home. Because our prevailing winds in winter come from the NW or an Alberta clipper from the west, that is where all the unheated space is with one window. Getting your home site sorted also helps so much with heating and cooling. Thanks for your all's work. I now have to plan to order propane, prepare to clean gutters of leaves, run snow fence, put the blade on the ATV. pay taxes....and so on.

The ICF blocks are the best way to go right now until they come up with something better. I have the east basement wall goes to ground level and the rest is ICF and the basement is so easy to heat. I don't think I want to build another home myself again, enjoyed remodeling houses and building new over the years but I have done enough. I hope your house is full of kids sounds for years and your grandkids get to enjoy the home also. Stay safe and healthy.

If it is not to late check into SIP's (Stress Skin Panels) to build the above ground portion of your home. I built one 30 years ago and it had R39 walls and R65 ceilings.

@@kawasaki2024 yes, but asking someone where they got the money for a house after 3 bad years on the farm, is more then curious. It’s nosy. Last year when the guys announced they were gonna build, Nick said they saved their YT income for several years to do it.
