The story of harakeke was told by Māori to their tamariki to ensure that all generations would be kaitiaki and conserve this precious resource.
As our Kaupapa Māori Advisor Lyndelle explains, this meant that the harakeke would not be over-harvested and that there would always be new shoots for the coming year.
