This is really cool, I'm 50 years old and I've lived it all and I showed all these songs to my son in his teens, this father-son connection couldn't be more beautiful and rewarding, a big hug from Brazil.

LOL, we used to have this song cranked on the blaster on our way out of the locker room before high school football games back in the 80s. Man, we were seriously ready to crack some heads after that! 🤣

Can't say I was a fan, but I just noticed the opening lyric - "Guess what, I've got a fever, And the only prescription is more cowbell" - so there's your cowbell fix for the week! Computer says their main influence for the song was British glam rock band Slade, and the Christmas carol O Come All Ye Faithful (which I almost recognised - it was bothering me all the way through the song, but I remember this Twisted Sister song from the 80s). The video used lines from the character Douglas C. Niedermeyer in the film Animal House ("you're all worthless and weak", etc.) and actor Mark Metcalf who played Niedermeyer was the dad in the video. Glad you got a kick out of it!

Too bad the video got blocked, but I'm glad that Ethan got to see it. For this band the video was about the best thing they had going for them. Definitely the poster band for hair metal like you said Ethan. I got a kick out of Dee Snyder testifying in front of the PMRC Senate hearings. The irony is that when the albums got slapped with an Explicit Lyrics sticker on them it made the kids want to buy it even more.

Yes Ethan I think that's a world old issue betwingst parents & youngins. My Daddy picked the guitar (acoustic) & sang. Had his buddies come to the house all the time to pick & sing with him. I guess you could say it was their "band". Even with all that said .. he used to state negative things about music we listened too .. esp the solid body electric guitar (the first modern body electric guitar wasn't completed until 1960). By then my Daddy & buddies had already developed their acoustic playing style & raised in the 30's depression era .. he disliked the electric guitar. Plus rock was fairly new & rapidly changing. Altho their "band" did like playing southern Rock specifically CCR's version of Proud Mary. I must say they did a great job at that. So there's always going to be a diff in genres. What a fun video...it sure brings back memories. I saw Twisted Sister once back in 1984 with Iron Maiden when both bands were in their prime. It was a lot of fun. Twisted SIster had a lot of good songs but it seems they were really only known for this song and I Wanna Rock by the mainstream rock radio (and their listeners). It was hard to take Twisted Sister TOO seriously when they had comedic videos like this one, ''I wanna rock'' or even the peewee herman ''Burn in hell''. I wanna rock and We're not gonna take it were overplayed big time. We can hear ''We're not gonna take it'' at sporting events all the time now. That being said, they had the 2 big songs, and most people didn't know anything else by them. Maybe ''The price'' also. Despite all the comedy, TS were very good live. My picks would be some of their earlier stuff that's not as well known: What you don't know, Under the blade or You can't stop rock n roll.

Don't care what anyone says, loved them. The first few albums were damn good. Dee is a helluva frontman. Still got the voice too. Live, he is great. They opened for Maiden on the Powerslave tour. What a show. This is a great anthem song and I never tire of it.

I’m pretty sure this is the first Teenage Anthem about rebellion against parents. A funny music video. The father was a great dad villain. But so scathing and belittling to his son in this video That type of behavior wasn’t even acknowledged back in the 80’s. It was a different time.

I'm really glad you got to experience Twisted Sister and their video😀 It's a pity it was blocked but at least you got to see them and have a laugh, it shows that they have a great sense of humour. They didn't take themselves too seriously but were still a brilliant band who could really deliver live. I managed to get to see them in London in the 80s and they were superb. Dee Snider is one of rock's great frontmen and the bass player is really good too - Mark "The Animal" Mendoza😀 He was originally with the Dictators, a New York band from the early 70s, and later went on to play with Blackfoot for a time. Other tracks that are well worth checking out are I Wanna Rock - it has a very similar and great fun video too, You Can't Stop Rock 'n' Roll, What You Don't Know (Sure Can Hurt You) and Under the Blade. You're always guaranteed a great time when listening to them!🤘🤘🤘😁

YES, YES, YES!!! One of my favorite rock hair bands (dare I say rock glam band) of the 80s!!! Dee Snyder is amazing. He was actually a radio DJ here in Hartford, CT at the same radio station Howard Stern DJ'ed (WCCC). His movie, "Strangeland" was a bit of a disappointment, though. The awesome album "Stay Hungry" was the inspiration for the plot and the movie would've been a lot better had it been made before the internet era (as it was intended but no studio would sponsor his screenplay). But I digress. I am so pleased that Ethan enjoyed this. They were truly quite the shock performance band. Check out some of their songs from the "Love is for Suckers" album.

I didn’t vote this but it’s of much much great significance , unbelievable message & a middle finger to the governing authorities, etc !!!! Hats off to Twisted Sister ! If I have to tell you not to act like Al Capone then you wouldn’t understand anyways! I figured someone in the comments would have pointed out the political ramifications of this song , but they didn’t , Dee Snider being pulled in front of congress & all , y’all can Google it etc , This song is no slouch in anyway whatsoever!
