2:26 Question is. Why the hell people leave the sink running while they're brushing their teeth... if they're not gonna use it til they're done with the brushing? I feel it's a huge waste of water, and it's 3 times a day ffs
@spencerdokes6056
@spencerdokes6056 Жыл бұрын
For me I constantly rinse my brush periodically, until most of the toothpaste is gone. Then I stop brushing and rinse, so I need it in the whole time
@LstBrth
@LstBrth Жыл бұрын
@@spencerdokes6056 You can fill a glass with water and take one gulp at a time, swing the water around in your mouth and then release it into the sink until there is no more paste in your mouth. Fun fact: The toothpaste dissolves after a while and it's meant to be kept over your teeth. If you clean it with water, you are cleaning the protective film the paste gives to the teeth. Of course, you can release that blob of saliva and toothpaste that builds up in your mouth. Only water you really need is to clean your lips and the brusher. I know it can be annoying to keep it, but remaining like that for a few minutes, say 5 or 10, is enough.

Sorry dude but no amount of encouraging people to use less water is ever gonna make a difference. Corporate and commercial use of water far outweighs any semblance of impact people on their own can hope to make.
@JamesCook76131
@JamesCook76131 Жыл бұрын
@@LstBrth if you brush your teeth like that, you’re literally defeating the purpose of using toothpaste. If you’re going to “rinse” use mouthwash first, then brush your teeth. Liquids should not be used in any shape for 30 mins post washing, this allows the toothpaste to do what it supposed to do. The moment you “rinse” after brushing, you were just better off using water and a brush to clean your teeth.

For the Ottawa area, the biggest issue is repeated blackouts due to weather-related damage to powerlines and transformer stations. In recent years, it has gotten worse because of extreme weather events caused by climate change. For example, Canada's sixth costliest natural disaster occurred in 2022 when a wind storm knocked out power grids and damaged infrastructure across Ontario and Quebec. All the top ten most expensive natural disasters only happened in recent years. After a severe ice storm last winter, the people of Ottawa talked about ways to decrease carbon emissions and rely less on the city's power grid. The most popular search term became solar generators.

Why do people leave their sink running full blast anyway? Turn it off to brush, on to rinse, off to brush, on to rinse. I guess that's too much effort for a minute of activity. I shave filling my sink with five to six inches of water and shake my razor through it which gets everything off. Never had a problem. No need to keep it running full blast for several minutes.

been thinking about this for years. People shrug it off, and keep using water like it's infinite. Well, it does not leave the planet sure, but if we use more than it gets replenished then... yeah. But the water moves and comes down in different places, so I would assume some places would be just fine while others not , depending on use and geology. Man idk

I live in Nevada (las Vegas to be specific), it is the dryest part of the country, and the closest water supply is lake mead which is 6 miles away, it is concerning to see the levels of water drop so drastically, but at the same time I don’t think there is much hope for Vegas or it’s surrounding suburbs… Las Vegas hits record high’s in the summer, like 110 Fahrenheit, it will get worst because of global warming, however even without global warming, the area is still too hot, so the demand for water is much higher, and because of a large population, and lack of other sources of water, there seems to be little to no hope for my area… what do you think?

Having lived between both lakes my entire life, it's been depressing watching the water disappear. However, it must be noted how this problem is not just a personal one, but a political one. The Colorado River is being knowingly overtaxed by the states that use it. We've known the supply of the river and said "oh well" long ago and began making cities in deserts that can't support it. Much like pollution, putting this problem on the people who are just trying to live and not on the corporations and governments that abuse the world we live in is not just neglectful, but dangerous.

Life Noggin, it would make sense since this is an issue to promote water purification and filtration technology like the Burkey water filter as all you have to do is collect water from any source, whether from the sky when it rains, oceans, lakes, ponds, etc. Purify and Filter it, then store it for later use. People have become spoiled with how available water is, but there are ways to use what we still have on the planet.
