I left Europe 4 years ago to come back to the motherland, I almost died of depression, sadness and frustration, until one day I said enough is enough,i didn't come to this world to just work, pay bills and die, always on survival mood that i don't have the time and energy to maximise my potential, I need a happy life,I dedicated myself into 6month of hard labour, save some cash and came back, everyone thought I was mad for leaving europe to come and settle in africa,I established a business and I now own my gym and two cosmetic shops, most of my friends I left there are congratulating me that I made the best decision, the west is just waiste of time and depression,no social interaction, no love, racism and lack of good opportunities for black people, if you want to live you must work like a slave no matter how educated or intelligent you are, better jobs are for Europeans not blacks,by the time you will realise you are now old and can't do anything for yourself, africa is the best continent to live in this world, more especially if you have content mind, and africa have everything, there is everything in this continent you will never realise until you travel to the west and come back, and if you want to come back don't look at the fancy things and don't listen to people, don't let social media fool you again, your will power is the greatest advicer it will never disappoint you,me travelling to Europe teaches me a life lesson that mental health is precious than wealth, nothing will confuse me to go Europe again..at least I fell love, affection and respect in this continent, no more, depression,no sadness, social interaction, no racism, natural foods, beautiful women and men,bro I'm living

"I've been brainwashed to believe"... that's not an excuse to be ignorant. For those that are credulous and put so much faith in the colonizers, you have the internet at your fingertips thanks to our Nigeria brother, the creator of the Internet, Philip Emeagwali. Use it and self-educate. Without the internet, doesn't common sense tell you otherwise. Listening to peoples' perceptions of Africa is infuriating. Jah bless, one love from the Martinique.

I‘m in my early 30s and I traveled from Ghana to Europe to seek for a greener pasture but i found out later there are countless opportunities back in Africa. The goal now is to get some capital, move back to Ghana and invest when i’m in my 40s. I pray for God‘s favor so my decisions will be fulfilled and that’s why am stuck with Maya’s content because what it gives is more than a life time experience. With this, I can always plan accordingly and execute my mission successfully when the time is right. Africa is the future !!!

It is not because the Lord is calling them to Africa. It is because Western blacks have disposable incomes and and are travelling overseas and seeing for themselves what is going on in Africa. In this they are bringing to Africa opportunities by harnessing and using their skills and knowledge they have acquired in the West and blessing Africa with it.

I’ve felt the PULL to move to the motherland, I’m just fed up with life in the west, it’s just getting worse with the RACISM, MICRO AGGRESSIONS, BILLS, WORK etc. there was a recent report from the BBC that said black children are punished more SEVERELY compared to their white counterparts, we just can’t catch a break ! The west really is depressing and soul destroying. When I was in Africa I was at PEACE, there was a Vibrancy and COMMUNITY there. There is no work life balance here, we are just barely surviving. I’m tired and ready to repatriate.

Yes, the West is challenging but visit the continent before moving to the right place for you. Plan, research and ask yourself important questions and be honest with the answers, are you good at managing others, can you start a business, can you be self reliance, do you have patience , are expecting same material things in Africa and does it matter to you or is peace of mind etc MORE important to you? Check Odana network video, she interviewed a woman from an organization that helps people to visit the continent if you under the age 30years old if NOT that age still get the information.

I think some Africans would rather be depressed and be on medication than have a few power cuts here and there. We don't have to be on the internet every second. Power goes off and that's a time to actually mingle with people and have good conversations. People here are all about small talk because they don't know how to have conversations anymore. Conversationa have turned into likes on Socio.

Maya, you raised a very important topic, as a person from the diaspora who would love to visit, have heard many stories about people who are using their position of info, as a business and to scam the diaspora… I’m very familiar with that, living in the USA, but coming from a small popular vacation spot, and now people fleeing from US to my country… as a local, also a missionary to my country, I travel back and forth. I have introduce many American people to friends and influential people, to find places to live etc. give them business opportunities, because I want to help, and for them to have a good experience in my country, for free! Not all the people have been in good standing, I have had negative reports from locals of these people leaving without paying their rent, not paying radio stations bills, pastors helping but get negative result from these pastors, basically taking advantage of these locals, but I’m like you, people are going to be who they are, it won’t stop me from helping where I can… Today people don’t seem to want to do anything for free. We are dealing with a different mindset and a generation like no other, they don’t seem to understand that’s what we are all about, extending a hand to help each other, especially in a foreign land. Money is a source, but a true friend will last… smh🧓🏾💕🙏🏽

Words Maya is a different "breed" . Born in the Central region of Ghana, and had lived a little bit in Nigeria, and fortunate enough to never had been to any toxic European nation such as UK, US & Frame, but rather lucky enough to have lived in Nigeria and China had made this young man a different human not too common in Ghana. Being lived in Nigeria and China had prepared Maya to fit into any society and build bridges.

Agreed has we watch MAYA videos so does the exploiters who want us to STAY consumers to make them rich. People must BUY local to help the economy by buying made in Africa. There are talent people who make furntures, Rwanda manufacture appliances, Nigeria have paint and vehicle, cement or nature material can be found to built homes, the diaspora need to have hardware store, built material etc.

BRILLIANT. Wode Maya. You have done it again my brother. My eldest brother now lives in Brufut Heights in Gambia. Very nice place inhabited by mostly Ex Pat's. Especially from the UK. He has been living there since 2018. I visit him quite often. Now my brother is a straight talking individual. And his advice to those in the Diaspora looking to come to Gambia is this. First do your due diligence, and please research any individual or company selling land or houses. And do not trust anyone, even if they come from the UK or elsewhere. And lastly do not tell anyone your business.

This was a beautiful piece on the Gambia and all the opportunities that are "Ripe for the picking" I am so proud of this group of people who are affecting change in this beautiful country. Also, I loved how the comparison was made between the West and Africa, of course we enjoy the amenities that are available in the West. The up side of living in Africa is by far a better quality of life eventhough, you may not have electricity and internet service 100% of the time.

Mutabaruka once sang a song and said it is not good to stay in a white man’s country so long. To prepare for my return, I am currently setting up a vegetable oil industry, I have got a 70 (700 plots) hectares farm and planning the third business, real estates.
