Landen Gordon is one of the next up-and-coming amateurs riding for the coveted Team Green Kawasaki program. He won the Supermini 2 class at Loretta Lynn's before making the jump up to big bikes full-time on the KX250 and he's already been successful on it, winning multiple classes in the "B" class at Mini O's. MXA's Josh Mosiman interviews Team Green mechanic, Mario Testa, to learn how Kawasaki and Pro Circuit put together this race-winning package, and our mini tester, Mowlgi Roe, rode the KX112 two-stroke at Glen Helen with Josh Mosiman taking a few laps on it at the end of the day as well.

I find it interesting that although Kawasaki and Suzuki have abandoned 125cc and up 2 strokes, that they (Kawasaki even more so) still invest money, time and labor into these mini 2 strokes. I would like to believe that means that perhaps they may still be open to producing bigger 2 strokes. One can wish at least.

you just heard him say it's been the same bike for over 20 years.... what the fuck are you on about? even at the "factory" level, they have Pro Circuit supply all of the parts...not KHI. what a dumb take...

Unfortunately there is no AMA Motocross class for a 125cc. Yes you can ride one in the 250cc class, but you won't win. Kawasaki isn't going to make bikes that don't have a competitive class to race in. These superminis have a class, kids are racing them from local races to Loretta's.

@Randy_Cox There badly needs to be a 125 class multiple actual. A B C Classes that don't include 250f's. That will help grow the sport again. There are other things that would help as well, but that's definitely one of the things that will help

@MX-CO you won't see me arguing for sure, but I just don't see it happening. People been asking for a 2 stroke class or 3 for years. Instead of packing a night with racing they want half the night to push sponsors and advertisers and half the night of racing.

i grew up on a 1988 kx 80 big wheel with at the time a 105cc big bore. It was insane wide open all day. Mario is the man.

One if my friends purchased one of Ian Trettels RM 85s amateur suzuki i believe. I rode it and it was easily faster than my rm125. Hahaha. The front wheel would not stay down

That thing is awesome. Ill never get tired of watching tricked out supermini's. I wish honda was making an 85 or you guys would do some videos on the 150r. Those kids make this thing look faster then a 125 but when a big guy gets on it you can tell it isn't pulling as hard.

Is the KX 112 the most budget friendly supermini? Not the PC bike, but from showroom to LL capable.

Yes, but I would say the ktms are a level above the kx112s when they are made into a supermini.

TM makes a supermini model too for $7.3k but i guess that doesn't beat the $5k that Kawi offers out of the box.

I would say so, it could compete with an exhaust, reeds and carb mods, race head, porting and good gas

Why complain about horspower of stock bikes. Dont you modify for that. Truth is kawi id giving you a 112 complete foundation that a modufied 85 is not. Beefed up enuf to handle a 13 cc bigger bore. Thats now a 125 . Stop trashing the manufacturers for giving you AWESONE STUFF.

KX 112 starts at $5649, even cheaper if you get a 2023 model. Mom and Dad can afford that for the kids...
