So those white flower blossoms you saw were plum trees which blossom before the sakura 🌸(cherry blossoms in end of March through April )😊 You were so lucky to experience the greeting of the imperial family! I guess the security checking part for your drink was because of the sarin gas attack happened in Tokyo subway years ago.
