The software update is stellar. Drove 400 miles and the trip planning for DC fast charging only was spot on. Perfect.

Not sure you ever figured out that the radio/hvac touch control can be configured to default to one or the other at your choice. I have ours set to HVAC as all the radio controls are on the wheel or easy to see in center touch screen. ALSO WORTH NOTING: EV6 pricing is in the floor now. Most dealers are offering substantial discounts as they are siting on lots since Tesla dropped pricing. Even GT's are 3-5K under MSRP. Greatly appreciate the thorough and well thought out reviews though. Great to see folks giving the EV6 a objective view.

I’ve had my FE since June of ‘22, have almost 20K miles on it. Best car I’ve ever owned! Constantly makes me smile while driving it, or walking away from it. As far as the frunk issue, with some creative loading, there’s more room than apparent. I have given numerous people rides to airports in Detroit & Chicago & they’ve all commented what a great ride the EV6 has & the amount of room.

I love my EV6 and would buy it again. I don’t understand the issue with the lower control panel. I always have it on the HVAC setting and just control radio from the steering wheel / touch screen. You can in the navigation system settings make it only find CCS chargers when navigating and you can set the networks which are allowed. This was there from the beginning. However I do agree the navigation system could be better at selecting chargers, giving you alternatives and telling you how much to charge and how much range you will have at arrival. I hear it’s with the Ioniq 6 now so it should come as an update to Ioniq 5 and EV6 but I haven’t seen it yet.

I came honestly because I was looking for something other than “yet another US-based white dude with a KZfaq channel” so my other favs are Throttle House and MotorMouth, but I love your format so much. Great review Alex! We’ve had our Kia EV6 for a year now, same color only white seats with black trim and we love it! Looking forward to when you can do a road test with the new Kia EV9 as we’ll consider trading in for that.

It would be better if the tire mobility kit, chargers & manuals all fit in the frunk, then the space under the trunk floor could be more open with room for an optional spare & jack, that an owner could buy on their own, or allow the floor to be lowered for more cargo room.

Love your reviews. Very in depth. Quite often you mention lack of 4 way lumbar support. Is this widely available on most vehicles today? As someone with back problems I haven't had a problem with 2 way for comfort.

It's worth mentioning that some people capture most of the $7500 tax credit on an EV6 by leasing it, then immediately buying it out. You lose some of the discount in fees, which vary from state to state, but it should still be considerably cheaper in most cases than a straightforward purchase. You have to read the lease agreement very carefully to be sure you don't get screwed, though. Caveat emptor!

I got my 2020 ioniq in nov 2022 with 4k miles on it. Now it has almost 15k miles on it and theres no intention on getting rid of it. 160 miles of range is an absolute NON issue and idc that its an electric prius, its just super useful. So many of these big flashy expensive EV's are out there and I picked up my little guy for 27k.

Thanks for the detailled video! One question: Never heard of the "battery heater mat" (18:18). How to find out if this comes with a specific model? Do you mean the optional heat pump?

I use the pizza box area to store my 100’ sjtw 300V extension cord for my 16A 120/240V evse that fits in my frunk. With the adapters I’ve made for both rv plugs, all three oven plugs, and the standard welder plug plus the 120V standard wall plug adapter it came with in an charge almost anywhere at 1.8 or 3.6kW. It’s awesome!

We have been using a wireless usb adapter for android auto in our Ioniq 5 and now I have it set up it works great never get a broken connection.

I am 6'2" and have the GT. I find it very comfortable and with plenty of headroom. The reliability, build quality, and peace of mind that comes with driving a Kia is priceless.

Love the 18-month review to confirm which features actually got use. I just have one question... Why are you storing a gallon of milk in the center console?? I mean, I do love the idea of chugging large quantities of whole milk on my way back from Home Depot, but a gallon seems decently excessive.

Absolutely love my 2022 EV6 Wind AWD. Fast, nimble and gadgets galore. Also it looks like no other car on the road. When I pull into a parking lot all the Tesla owners are checking me out. Fast charging network still can be a challenge but I live in Chicago and generally make it work with the occasional inconvenience of having to wait. Im curious to see how fit/finish and reliability pan out vs Tesla. Time will tell...

I would think the EV6 would be more reliable in reality. I know many people who have had lots of issues with Tesla. I do like the Tesla Model Y though a lot but I have to say I love my EV6 Wind Edition.

These are plunging in price in the aftermarket. Saw a '22 Wind trim with 8,000 miles for $29K.

Hardly ever saw any here in SoCal, maybe 3 top. More Ioniq 5 though, almost see one every other day!

I really like the charging network, and seat to floor distance in Tesla but that’s it. The build quality and panel gaps are obvious and glaring. I also don’t like the lack of physical controls or things to touch in the vehicle. It feels like a store branded vehicle with an iPad. I went and drove it and it drove pretty well but there wasn’t anything about the interior or exterior that said hey you need this in your life. Every time I see someone say that they have an issue with vehicles that don’t have volume knobs but like Teslas I smile. The rear seat floor in many EVs is too high relation to the seat so I don’t know that I’m ready for an EV anyway.

I got the same car but a 2023 2 months ago and have been enjoying it! Did you experience any issues with yours during the 18 months ?

Just a quick addendum from the soon to be snowy Northeast. I had a 2022 Kia EV 6 and it was a great car. Hella fun to drive and fast charged at warp speed. However, had a few quirks that for me personally ended up being deal breakers. The biggest being that if the car is at the target charge percent and plugged into a charger you can’t pre-condition the cabin to take advantage of the line power. Basically, you hit the remote start and the car starts just long enough to detect it’s at the desired SOC and shuts itself off. Probably not a big deal in warmer climates but not being able to preheat off the grid was a deal breaker for me. Ended up trading it in for another EV that could preheat and solved a few other specific issues I had with EV 6 regarding the tech stack and and connected services (could have lived with those).

What was the sell price?

A minor clarification. It is not the tires, it is the wheels that hurt range and efficiency. The GT Line has less range and is less efficient because of the larger 20" open-spoke wheels that weigh more and are less aerodynamic than the 19" wheels. If you love the look of large, heavy open-spoked wheels and must have them, you will pay for them with range and efficiency.

i love my EV6 awd wind. it looks so good and drives Amazingly. Had many long road trips with it. The only time I would consider selling/trading it with another EV6 if they update/refresh EV6 with bigger better battery for an AWD that goes at least 350 miles. That alone would make huge difference.

I couldn’t do the rear seat headroom while reclined so that’s not a usable feature. Never opened our last sun roof much so I prefer the panoramic roof of the 2023 IONIQ 5 AWD augmented with sliding and reclining rear seats for a nice passenger experience for our guests. The lease $7,500 came off the MSRP up front and should shelter me well from the NACS bite in a few years. I store all my cables and kits around the subwoofer and use the frunk for smelly leftovers we’re taking home. 22:46

With Hyundai passing along a similar discount to the Tax Credit on the Ioniq 5 and 6 right now those models are fairly compelling. I wonder why Kia isn't doing the same with the EV6?

Unless you want a sedan I personally (for our use case) can't think of a good reason to trade in my EV6 for another car. I did trade my MKZ hybrid car for a Niro PHEV 🚙 probably other PHEV that are nicer but not much choice in used cars.

Reviewers should stop saying that you get the tax credit when you lease. You don’t. Dealers are just reducing the capitalized cost of the vehicle you are leasing. That’s not the same as giving you $7500 cash, and actually, if you lease-to-own, you’ll still pay more than sticker in the end after the “credit.” For purposes of saving money, Leasing is really just for businesses that write off the payments for tax purposes.

How's the seat comfort for a longer distance? Like, greater than 4 hours of driving, does your rear get sore?

Even with heavy discounts by Hyundai/Kia, Model Y costs similar or cheaper with higher EPA range. I really like Ioniq 5, but it was really hard for me to choose that over MYLR.

Alex, I have had nothing but trouble with Hyundai dealerships trying to get my Genesis G70 fixed. How is Hyundai supposed to survive long term if their customer service is literally worse than Nissan?

Lease to get the tax credit. Buy out the lease in the first month with a nice low interest rate loan from your friendly neighborhood credit union. Just make sure there is no early pay off penalty.

The EV6 is more like a small hatchback, and if you need a bigger 3-row SUV, the Palisade or Telluride might be a better fit for you. They offer more space and comfort, which is important for those longer trips or when you have a bigger crew to haul around. EV options are growing, so who knows, there might be a larger EV SUV in the future that suits your needs!

I think all EV6s do have a front trunk, even if it is glovebox sized.

Trading off front length for interior space then trading off interior space for low profile sleek design nets out to trading off utility for style. I like the looks of the car well enough I guess but these are not tradeoffs I would personally accept. OTOH I do think trading a little range for better tires is a positive exchange.

12:59 I think this is fantastic. And, it looks like the new Mach E is duplicating this with a single knob that does both volume and temperature based on mode selection. I set the car to a temperature and then I don’t touch it. I would be surprised if I changed the temp in my car a half dozen times in the last year. Makes dedicated temperature controls feel like wasted space.

You haven´t even removed the screen protector from the ventilation/media panel, after a hole year?! I have done it instantly on my own EV6, and its not that easy to peel off (only use your nails, and peel from the top corners of the panel) - but the result is all worth it! It looks really glossy and shiny! 🤩🤩

I’m against the EV revolution, but the EV6 is one of the hottest vehicles on the road. Glad that people are enjoying it.

I wish that was my experience with my 2023 EV6 so far :/ I've had my AC go out (With parts on a ??? eta backorder), the ICC acting up so I can't DC fast charge at 800v stations, and now even L2 charging is failing pretty consistently because of a well known temperature sensor issue on the charge port. At this point, I'm most likely going to contact a lemon law specialist.

The sound system is better on the ev6, ioniq 5s was very disappointing to me.

I loved my 2022 EV6 Wind until two months ago when the car died and has been with the dealer since. Parts on order for the ICCU module and I'm getting paid out under the California lemon law. Real shame, probably never come back to Kia.

The side tappers in towards my head. 5:40 That alone would prevent me from getting one. It’s a nice and comfortable car. Quality interior. Besides the head space, the size would prevent me from buying one. I prefer an XC40 or Crosstrek size.

Not one of your better videos imo Alex - more just another review which we already have plenty of. I thought you might have some more insights into things that owning the car for 18 months would provide. Had my GTline awd for 2 weeks now and I am still figuring things out but so far it gets a serious thumbs up for smoothness, perfomance and comfort. Little issues: I haven't seen where you can route plan in the UI and voice recognition for anything is truly hit and miss. I have had to press the microphone button on the android auto screen to use voice prompts for directions and phone calls not in my contact list seem to need a lot of trial and error. Now those touch buttons for heated and ventilated seats are truly a mistake as they are incredibly easy to turn on accidentally, The physical buttons on the Wind and GT trims need to be carried over for the GTline. In fact I find that many of the features on the GT line which thought I wanted are not useful for me such as the directional cameras that I can't see well thourgh the steering wheel so don't trust or use, and the heads- up display which I don't care about, Thought I wanted the handles that presented open when unlocking and maybe I would miss that but they also let everyone know that "hey my car is unlocked come and look". I do agree that I wish you could option out the moon roof as that headroom is definitely tight with it and I would prefer the extra 2 1/2' height that would provide and they just bring in extra heat. One last thing is the sloping front windshield brings in a lot of heat and heats up that large black dash to where it is hard to keep the car cool enough so getting some serious infrared film put on this week and doing the moon roof as well. And yes I am getting between 3.4 and 3.7 miles per kwh with mine and ever more in the mountains surprisingly so much better than 252 range.

Sorry, but I'd like to point out a few discrepancies in this review. for starters you should point out your height when comparing headroom, that way your viewers can make a better assessment based on their own height... Also, you say you don't like the glossy finish but didn't point out that the wind and light versions have the same matt chrome finish found on top of the start button... As for the radio/temp panel. After 18 months and claiming that the ev6 is the car that your coworkers favorite then you would think someone would have figured out after all this time that pressing and holding down one of the "switch" icons for 3 seconds gives you the option to select a default so if you want it to stay on temp control it will do that after after 2 seconds when you have to change the radio station, or vice-versa...most people just use the steering wheel for the radio and leave the panel on temperature controls. Also, there are other ev KZfaqrs that have tested the magic dock on superchargers and they said (and showed) that it gets capped at 100kw on the ev6. Maybe the one you used was faulty, or your battery wasn't pre-conditioned... Anyhow, I've been driving my ev6 wind for 5 months now and would never trade it for any kind of Tesla... I've been hearing Tesla owners complain about the littlest things and their customer service has steadily declined over the years... And lastly, I don't know where you're located but you placed the ev carpool stickers on the wrong location, unless it's different for each state.🤔...anyhow, I wouldn't put any of those hideous stickers on any ev. They all clash with the color of the car.

What happens if you run an EV through deep standing water?

I did consider this and Hyundai when buying an EV.. in the end, I went with a Tesla M3 Performance. This was before any Fed incentives. Dealing with dealership and their mark ups is horrible. Direct selling with Tesla, and I get exactly what I want is spoiling me. I wish all Automakers can use the build function of their websites and can order directly, as per the 'build'.. and not just looking for a similar trim within the area. Having a great system is better than the product. I think this is superior than a Tesla, but doesn't have great buying system. Analogy: I love Wendy's products better than McDonalds.. but Wendy's app is horrible. So, I usually buy McDonald's, as it's convenient, and a just ok product.

I just struggle paying $60K for this car. You could buy a really nice hybrid for that money. Plus, I don’t live in CA (born and raised there though). The charging hassles aren’t worth it here in KY. Great video as always!

I like the KbackwardsN EV6. I don't like touch buttons. I really hate dual purpose touch buttons. There is a lot of piano black plastic in my older Toyota. Piano black is a designer's dream and an owner's nightmare. It always looks dirty. Stop it! Just use textured matte plastic instead.
