I really appreciate all your hard work building the dyno coupled with countless hours filming and editing. I take great comfort, in knowing that my m18 mid torque, is basically an old skool IR gun without the compressor. I work in a tire shop and use my m18 1/2 inch daily. I did 20 tires today and another 8 or so wheels off the car for rotates/various other jobs. I charge the battery 1 time a week. That kind of power used to be limited to a large air compressor and expensive tool.

I recently bought the hikoki/metabo gun, can confirm the breakaway torque numbers are in the ballpark to your results, 32mm socket on a m24 wheel stud, we set all the nuts to 650nm and it was able to break it loose with little hassle. I have the high torque gun in 3/4 aswell, it regularly out performs the bosses near new 1' milwaukee gun much to his displeasure.

Heya guys I'm from the land down under, and I have an as of yet unreleased hikoki/metabo hpt impact driver that is just begging to be tested by you guys across the pond. Model number is WH36DC, it's a new compact 36 volt tri beam light 1/4 hex driver rated for 217nm of forward torque but not sure about reverse torque. No load speed is claimed to be 3700 rpm with about 4100ipm. Let me know if you'd like to receive it and I'll send it over via express courier.

If metabo (hitachi) impact and battery power lineup is anything like the quality of the framing nail guns then they are gonna be great. The hitachi nail guns are the best period.

Great video as always. The Metabo brand of tools seems to be a great value especially given the performance you get from them. Unfortunately, for me and I’m sure for many other people, I’m already invested in a different battery line(Milwaukee in my case) so it wouldn’t make much sense for me to start another line of batteries no matter the performance.

Great performance, would get this over Milwaukee, but as a small business owner price is not a big issue so instead i just ordered 4pcs 40v Makita batteries and a couple of chargers, and obviously some tools too. Got to wait for the 40v midtorque to become available here but waiting for the best isnt too hard.

I'm so close to going all in on Metabo HPT, but the fact that their grinder still uses the awful cam latch "tool-less" guard (you basically always need a tool because it loses pressure super easily) I haven't gone in. Once they have a guard similar to what the rest of the brands use then I'm 100% in

I'm still deep on the 18v red wagon. But will probably stay with it since it fulfills all of my needs. Not to mention that the investment was huge an will be hard to switch.

One major factor left out is the hpt is also water resistant...and can be dunked in water. Other channels ran it under water and it was still kicking

Haven’t looked at Metabo before because I didn’t realize they were hitachi. We have some 10 and 15 year old hitachi 1/2” impacts and drills that still work like a charm. Would be really interested to see how the 3/4 drive does, that’s what I’m in the market for right now.

good stuff, to me the sizing is really heavily weighted on mid torques and smaller impacts after all if they dont fit on the bolt then they cant even transfer 1 ft lb to it, high torques on the otherhand make them as big and hefty as necessary to hit as hard as possible as the point of them is to knock loose rusted seized junk and larger higher torqued fasteners width is also a big factor my m12 stubby doesnt fit alot of bolts or requires an extension frequently due to its width not the length theres often lots of room behind it.. other times youre hammering it into a spot so tight your shaving curls of plastic off the back of it wonder if theres any designs or products on the market for impact extensions that dont rob as much torque, maybe make them thicker, fit more snuggly on the anvil even if its a pain to get on and off, possible a set screw to synch them down proper get rid of that loose connection point cause sometimes you just have to have an extension to get on a bolt

I've been binge watching all your videos and would love to see this 1/2 impact tested its a budget impact but I want to see how it performs against its brushless counterpart that you have already tested its the CRAFTSMAN V20 Impact Wrench Cordless Kit (CMCF900M1) The brushed model which says it has 350 foot pound of torque

Cheaper yet more powerful than an m18, also the fact that metabo hpt batteries are cheaper than Milwaukee m18

Impressive performance from the metabo. I have the Milwaukee mid torque and its powerful enough and sometimes that couple mm or cm can be the difference between being able to fit the tool or not. So far I haven't came across a fastener I couldn't remove with it. But if it doesn't have the beans that's what the high torque is for.

Would like to see Astro get into the cordless market. If anyone else agrees, like this so maybe they will see it.

Very cool. Was about to add the 36v hammer drill to my lineup of older 18v Hitachi tools. May as well pick it up seeing that it's on sale for the holidays and wait for this. I didn't want to spend all that money on one 36v drill.

Good and very interesting video ! Always good to compare the product from manufacturers. Can you maybe also compare the German Metabo brand ? Seems interesting of German products are as good as those other brands.

Awesome review, I would prefer the Metabo over the Makita, but Milwaukee's size and power with a 6HO are hard to beat.

I have watched a large portion of your comparisons now, and of course this is just speculation but based on the impacts that i own and the ability for them to either break a rusted bolt free or not, i would say a good indicator of what a gun will do is in the first 2 seconds of your chart. I would be curious to see an overlay of every single gun you have tested and see which one shows the highest number at the 2 second mark, and then see if it is actually the strogest rust busting gun in reality... (within each range of coarse, mid torques, high torques, etc.) Great videos BTW, keep er' movin bud! :)

What about testing the Milwaukee 2663-20 1/2"? I'd like to see how it stacks up against the 2nd Gen Mid Torque. I have one I could send.

Tryout the new diehard impacts sold at advance auto. I’ve been using the ratchet and they do pretty well for being as cheap as they are. They come with batteries and chargers too so it’s not too bsd

I'd like to see a ranking of tool quality (realizing, of course, this would be fairly subjective). I'm heavily invested in Ryobi at the moment. I used to be hardcore Dewalt, but I got really tired of their crappy batteries (this was about 8 years ago, before Li-Ion was available, or at least very common). I'm not about to abandon the Ryobi stuff, but if I decide to get a decent impact wrench, I'm not sure what route I'd go. I won't pay tool truck prices, but I can afford a good bit more than a Hercules.

It's an interesting assumption that just because you start at 0 torque and in most practical application you will be starting off at a much higher torque That you can just pick a spot on a chart and that's how it will proform I can sse why you would say that but maybe a quick test to make sure that is an accurate statement is in order

I would still pick makita, makita usually has extremely good components inside of their tools, and are their own company, and not owned by multiple corporations. For that reason and makitas consistent quality ill continue buying makita.

You should do a comparison test with the Milwaukee 2767-20 vs the Milwaukee 2863-20, ive been seen a lot of people buy the 2863 resently, and its supposed to be the same tool but with one key, however my 2767 is out performing all the other guy’s 2863 in the shop. Are those tool’s diference only the “One Key” feature, or are they actually diferent on the way they perfom. With also tried maxing out the performance with the 2863 using the One Key feature to make it give all the beans posible, and also using my H.O 6.0 battery on both at full charge. However the only way we can test in the shop is tightening lug bolts to 150 ft.lbs and seeing witch takes the longest to remove the lug nut, and so far we dont know if its trigger input or what but my 2767 always wins. I know its a wierd request but when milwaukee advertises both guns with the exact same spects and we can se the diference in the shop its kind of wierd. Hope this test can be done someday Note, both tools where tested with the standard XC 5.0 battery at full charge, then we started swaping things and the only way it could surpass the 2767 was with the HO 6.0 battery

Have you guys been able to test out Metabo HPT current offering of the 18v half inch rated at 225 i want to see how that compares to the stubby m12-18 version mainly due to office range as it's 150 vs 179 bare tool

This unit is cheap enough for me to put into the truck (nuts torque to 150 ft lbs) and use an adapter for my M18 batteries. It depends upon the actual selling price when it's available for retail sale. If it is $199 list, I will buy one, far less expensive than another Milwaukee tool. Yeah, it's heavier and larger than the midsized Milwaukee, but for just intermittent usage, it doesn't matter.

When are you guys gonna test torque sticks?

I've become invested in Kobalt's tool line since I really have no need for pro grade tools, but I still think Metabo HPT looks pretty tempting. It's hard to beat Kobalt's value on a lot of tools though, especially since they regularly have some serious sales.

I'd like to see a for science episode with 18 volt and 36 volt HPT tools/Batteries. The capacity increases with 18 volt however does that make enough of a difference to continue to use the 18 volt counterpart with a 36 volt battery if you have the 36 volt tool available or does it even matter which one you use

When looking at the dyno charts shown in this video, part of me thinks that the anvil design may also be factoring into the results. There is a point when an impact is putting out as many ugga-duggas as it can regardless of the battery used. The Milwaukee hits harder than both the Makita and Metabo up until about 400ft-lbs. Then the Milwaukee curve flattens out significantly as the others continue rising at a steeper rate. Given the super strong initial performance of the Milwaukee, I'm inclined to think that the larger form factor (and presumably larger anvil) of the Makita and Metabo is what ultimately allows them to comfortably beat the Milwaukee, and it's less to do with the battery. Just my hunch, FWIW.

At a certain point I’d take a smaller tool over the higher numbers. As a tech If I’m facing bolts that will be that tight I’d just assume grabbing the high torque anyways. It seems this race for torque numbers will never stop

Get that 4ah pack cold for me and see if it takes a charge after. Within the scope of what other pro batteries handle. I've had two give up the ghost on me working in the cold. There compact 3ah does fine. My buddy's DeWalt and Milwaukee batteries did fine but two of my $169 batteries bit the dust cuz of a little cold weather.anf I'd really like to know if you guys could duplicate that. I'm sure it would be good data for everyone really.

First and only hpt tool I purchased is a 23gauge pin nailer that totally fucking sucked! It would set one or two pins at a time and then it takes a shit. The pins jam and you have to take it apart to clear the jam only to run two more pins and take apart again. I used Metabo brand and other brand pins with no change. If it wasn’t for the fact that I paid $200+ I would of thrown in in the garbage. I purchased the new Milwaukee M12 23gauge pin nailer and it worked flawless! I’m a Milwaukee guy and that’s all I run, only reason I purchased the metabo was because Milwaukee wouldn’t release their pin nailer until the following year. I should have waited!

i own the milwaukee and ryobi and I love Metabo, but a Ryobi drove the lags faster than Metabo. Maybe I need to charge the battery on full, but the Ryobi did it with one bar on the battery.....
