In the video there were motorcycle, caligraphy and baseball club and they are trying to recruit the new student: Mingi. Yeosang represent peace, they have a battle dance (so fun) and they were bring together at the end by Yeosang (this were explained by the members in the reaction video)... This song was release on the las mission on Kingdom making a great pressentation reflecting the lyrics... For suggestion i think yo could watch the other official MV that they have realese: Promise, Utopia, Dreamers, Dont Stop and Rocky. Or the albums in order 😆😆

yeosang is representing peace in this mv! the different factions were fighting about mingi (the new student) and whose club he'll join. (he didn't join anyone in the end though I think). once the clubs stopped fighting and became allies/friends, yeosang's outfit changed to white (representing peace) and he joined the others!

Explanation time (Kind of a long one): So this song was actually released on Kingdom, as part of the final misson for the boys - and that was when Mingi was on his hiatus, so he wasn't on the "original" version. Mingi has a book on his waist that translates to "ethics" and the boys after the beam ray have a book called "Coolness/style: Revised Edition". I can't wait for your two to watch the Kingdom and LIVE versions of this song. Kingdom was the first place that this song was revealed. It's such a blast LIVE. In regards to the song, I took it as you can be yourself but no matter who you are or what you do (hence the different factions), stay humble and kind. Have good morals. In the case of Mingi, there was that bully that came over to punch Mingi, but the book stopped him. I didn't fact-check, but I think it was a book of morals. Having a good foundation will make you strong no matter what comes at you and you will persevere. Everyone looks 'scared', but he was also the only one who sat in class and read a book. Everyone else was goofing around and doing nothing yet they felt intimidated. The parts where they are saying, 'This is what you call style' (in Satori) is like saying being humble and kind is having style and what's cool.

The best way to prepare for the concert if you don't have time to get familiar with all their songs is to wait for their first concert by the end of October and focus on the setlist. For now, the songs that are confirmed to be on the setlist are: New World, Guerilla, Sunrise, and From. 👍🏻

I would recommend listening to Star 1117 and Sunrise before the concert! Star 1117 is usually sang as the closing song at their concerts and Sunrise was on the setlist that ateez gave us a sneak preview of for their upcoming concerts. If y'all thought that previous ATEEZ MVs were rollercoasters, "The Real" takes it to A WHOLE NEW LEVEL!! I mean, from the boys in their cliques in the beginning (not to mention silver, mullet Mingi, Pink Hwa, and YUNHO ON A MOTORCYCLE!!😱) and then their outfit changes near the end, and then...to top it all off.... It all turns into an anime, mixed with Power Rangers near the end!!! Of course, we ABSOLUTELY CANNOT FORGET Yeosang in that gorgeous white suit at the end!!! 😱🪦And then the breakdancing from Mingi and Wooyoung as well! The bloopers are one of my favorite parts with Jongho breaking the apple at the end🥰🥰 P. S. I relate to y'all completely when y'all constantly went into states of shock during the MV. We've stopped functioning in reaction to the same things and I find it hilarious (like Yunho's tongue and Seonghwa opening the door). Random info but they change the dance break each time they perform the real. So its always a random combo of dancers. Ok minor rant cos I just wanted to explain a load of context about the MV. It's thought to loosely be based on an old Korean film called Volcano high. This film is about a troublemaking transfer (Mingi in the MV) being caught between fights of the clubs at the new school. In this case: Hongjoong and Seonghwa (calligraphy), Yunho and Jongho (motorcycle), San and Wooyoung (baseball). In the movie some students displayed psychic powers (like Mingi in the classroom and with the ball) so it's understandable where the comparisons are. In the MV Yeosang is also separate from the boys as he is in no club but he represents peace (like the doves on the roof) so he is watching their fights from afar. And when they agree that they're all not so bad (the punch scene with the book), Yeosang comes front and centre as they have reached peace. And the lines in between by San, Seonghwa, Yunho, Wooyoung and Jongho are different forms of Satoori (dialect) from the areas they or their family are born. San and Seonghwa were the country boys who seem to still have their dialect so it was quite easy for them. But I think I remember Yunho and Wooyoung on PM saying that it was a little difficult for them because it was more dialect from the area and their family rather than the dialect they had as standard. And I think Jongho's line at the end was more standard Korean pronunciation instead of satoori as he is a Seoul boy. So it was meant to be the contrast between the stronger dialects and the standard Korean. When Mingi is punched by the other student, his Ethics book protects him. This theme of ethics being important is throughout the whole MV. They're basically putting down the people who treat people disrespectfully and claim to be cool (legit just makes me think of the gangs of boys at secondary who wear their trousers low and are cruel for no reason). Ateez is saying the real definition of being cool is those who have morals and are "humble and kind". There are also lots of little random hints at Korean cultural things that are considered respectful. But basically yeah... I hope that makes the MV make a bit more sense? This feels like my brain just throwing out a lot of info at once so I hope this doesn't seem like random rambling lol

Tori admitting to probably be Seonghwa and Hongjoong biased it's a mood. I am too, but I do have six biases wreaker so we are all on the same (ship) boat. Yeosang is the symbol of peace. The clubs are all "fighting" for the new student (Mingi). At the end they are just showing off their own "style" (that's kind of the meaning of the song, keeping and showing their style and colours while being humble and kind). I feel for you on what albums to react to. For me I would start with the fever series’s as it’s there more newer songs but it hard because ATEEZ likes to use there older albums to like sunrise. I just wanted to add a few comments: Since Yeosang represents "peace" - there is the scene with him and the flying birds (doves) as a hint - and this is also why he has the slice of bread in his mouth (you know, like when people feed birds bread). 😁 And yes, as someone else mentioned, this MV is VERY MUCH based on the film VOLCANO HIGH, which is a 2001 South Korean martial arts action comedy film. When I found this out, I became so curious and obsessed that I ordered a DVD of the film (VERY hard to find though). I was warned that it's a VERY dark comedy and that the film is VERY weird. I found both to be true, but in a strangely cool and fascinating way - if that makes sense. So, Ateez's version is like a more light & positive version of the film, but still very much keeps to the essence of VOLCANO HIGH. I believe there are clips/scenes of Volcano High on KZfaq, if you want to check it out. Also, read this Wikipedia summary of the film: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volcano_High - finding all this out and then watching Volcano High made The Real MV all the more fascinating! As a side note: I forgot to mention that An American version of the Volcano High film was released as a Kung Faux parody in late 2003 by MTV and featured "voice only acting" by hip hop artists. (Such as Snoop Dog, Method Man, Lil John, Andre 3000. Also, comedian Tracy Morgan and actor Pat Morita - Mr. Miyagi from The Karate Kid). From all the reviews, people say that the American version is sooooooooo awful and weird, that it's become like a cult classic. Well, here I am... again. Yes, yes, laugh WITH me. I would say to do discography first, because I personally like knowing the songs. Its hard for me to concentrate on both music and performance if i'm watching something for the first time. And then, especially that its an ateez concert... there's no way i would be able to take in everything if i heard the song for the first time at a concert. But if you don't really mind that, then I'd say you can finish the main mvs that you havent done yet, like the japanese ones: Utopia, Dreamers, Rocky (Boxers Ver). Are you doing Don't Stop next then? Its technically a main mv, just in collaboration with the Universe app where they do their private messaging and where a lot of their variety shows/episodes are created as well. I'm not sure it was confirmed by the members, but I have heard many things that this mv is inspired by a Korean movie (I forget the name, it had the word Volcano in it though). Yes, there is a traditional instrument! I love it. The version on kingdom didn't have this instrument. As for the meaning of some things: Mingi is the new student. The rest of the members are in different clubs (except for Yeosang). They are indeed trying to recruit mingi into each of their respective clubs. I've seen some of the comments and yes, Yeosang is representative of peace. Yeosangs scene with bread and birds, is depicting a Korean idiom/proverb I believe. I can't remember what it was though, I remember I didn't really understand it when I read it. The book that mingi has in the beginning says morals. I looked it up when I saw it, because everything has a meaning in their mvs! I'm assuming that if you keep your morals, you will be able to withstand many attacks. There are lots of words/phrases/sentences everywhere in this mv, I haven't actually gone through and looked at it all. That would take a very long time. I'll just read a summary someday lol. You see that the clubs are each trying to recruit mingi and its somehow like they are battling each other. But of course, at the end, i don't think they see the point in fighting anymore. The English title of this song is The Real, the Korean word is more like style/coolness. To have the real coolness/style. The real coolness/style is to be humble and kind. And to keep the right morals. This is what it means to be cool. It's not following the trends, copying people left and right, but to follow the morals. be humble and kind. That Korean word is one of those words that doesn't have an exact translation to english. I agree with Tori, that the sassiness of Hongjoong's rap does make it feel mocking and during his rap that is what he's going for. I see this song/mv as 51% to have The Real coolness/style and 49% mocking to those people who dont have it. This song was actually originally for one of their official comebacks, but I"m assuming because they had SO MUCH STUFF during that time, that they decided to use this song, something they already had made. I believe for the last performance from each group, they had to create a new song (?) I think. I can't remember anymore. The first time we heard the song was during the last scene of fireworks. The second time was during the performance of Kingdom. They did film Fireworks first and then The Real was broadcast live. But you know what the coolest thing is?! If you look on Spotify (Apple music too I think) and search Ateez The Real, there are two versions. The Kingdom version and their comeback version. Actually, the kingdom version also has Mingi in the recording! That means they recorded it before his hiatus (he didn't work on anything related to ateez during the first few months, from what I have seen and what I feel is implied by what the members have said in passing). It reminds me of the beginning of Sector 1, how it's the same ending as Answer. Like they really think of these things so ahead of time. It's crazy. They 100% have some kind of outline LOL. As always, I loved watching with y’all. I was in tears laughing at the faces during the initial attacking(first watch).🤣 Some of the other comments give a good take on the video. The only thing I’d add is how this was the end of the Fever era which is an EPIC era! So the whole video just felt that much grander. And ending it with Jongho and the apple just felt like the best way to end this era ya know?😁 I was in awe when I first watched.
