My parents sailed on the Queen Mary. I ate lunch on her years ago when i went to California. We took a charter ship to Catalina that trip too.

Awesome, have fun! kids would loved there so much for they to do or eat. The kids will be having food coma it so much food for them to eat. Food heaven....

They have 3 good place to eat. One is Steaks, Italians and sushi. We didn't eat at those place, we wanted to eat more Mexican foods. We attend to spend our money outside the ship.

would you prefer walking in ensada or taking the bus?

I prefer walking only 20 to 30 minutes walk also you get to sightseeing around and enjoy the view.

Do they check though bags like tsa or is it pretty free range I'm not sure on how early I should go in for check in

They do check your bag by machine screening your bag. 15 minute before check in for early check in. If you schedule to check late you might wanted to come in like 30 minute before check in the lane will be long. We schedule our time at 10am there would not that many people checking early that would get us to be able to tour around the ship as you see on video. Enjoy your trip...
