The price on it isn't actually too bad. I was expecting it to be $2k+, but I saw it online for $1200ish. I'd love a review or even just a video on it.

When the mag was removed between shots it was a lot easier to get lower and do that! Luckily, 8.6 is not heavy recoiling so it felt less like precision shooting and more like a longer range AR shot: Probably would’ve been smarter to zero for the subs so I didn’t have to make any elevation adjustments in the reticle BUTTTTTT you know we like to just send it so 😂🤷🏻♂️

There was a 375 cal subsonic wildcat a few years ago, that could reach out to 1100 yards (There was a video, but I cant find it). It too had a similar very fast twist rate, but I don't think anything came of it. It started with a "T", and is not the 375 Raptor (but it was pre covid, and perhaps it died like so many other businesses.) Cool video. Subbed

I’ve heard mentioned a few times that this round is something that’s already existed, unfortunately I haven’t been able to find info on it. I do suspect for it to get wider adoption/SAAMI approval it’ll need a lower twist rate like 1:5… no one wants to touch mass production on the bonded projectile

Nice video! I actually just got done with my build that is pretty much identical. If I may ask, what weight did you go with for the buffer and what buffer spring rating? My ammo just got in the other day, so I have not had a chance to shot mine yet. I ended up going with the orange Sprinco spring and KVP AR10 SS buffer.

How long is the 8.6 Blackout build folded with and without the suppressor? What is the weight of the build without the optic? I am thinking about this for my deer hunting rifle/ and bag/ truck gun.

You'll be sitting at about 18 inches folded without the can. The weight depends on what you go with but it's an AR10, so it's MUCH heavier than an ar15. this whole setup is probably 12lbs. A bolt action 8.6 has been added to my list of wants after using this. For hunting, it's great and will take down anything. For a "Truck gun" in the terms of defense against people stick with .300 BO as this will undoubtedly over penetrate and hit bystanders; if it's for stopping bears or you're not worried about use with anyone around, go for it.

I worked for a camp in Bellingham. That town is more white than my late 90’s rural high school. Also more liberal as evidenced but the guy I saw coming out of Fred Meyer with leopard print one piece with calf length leg covering, a man bun, and makeup. I still don’t know what to make of it. It’s quite a different part of the state than down in Randle.

I was the ropes master for the Yakima YMCA at their residential camp, Camp Dudley, and then finished the season out for Cispus before I headed back to NC.

I think one of the crazy things is you buy ammo loaded for your barrel length. It spins so so fast you risk the projectile ripping apart and destroying your can if you don’t have a good load

Why wouldn't you use supers in the 300blk for distance? I personally think 8.6 is such a niche round that it won't gain enough popularity for most manufacturers to invest in it. To me, the 300blk has more real world uses and has become more popular than 8.6 ever will be. If I was going to spend that much price per round, I would rather have a magnum, long range caliber.

This is one of those arguments that doesn’t really work, because people said “no military adoption” about them when they were new as well.

@@HighlyAcoustic yes, but bear in mind it took nearly 30 years to be adopted (1992 SSK developed 300 Whisper, 2016 300 Blackout adopted) There’s a good chance this will follow suite, as it’s already being adopted by many big game hunters after its short time of being around. Even if it’s not- round price will come down as demand increases and more people adopt the cartridge- which will happen, because the rounds insane.

SAMMI recently rejected it, so we will see if it takes off for mass production. 8.6 is cool but $4.00 a round… nah. I want to have fun at the range, not feel bad about shooting it.

$3/round. My understanding there is no one wanted to bite on the bonded projectiles for the risk of a QC issue ripping apart cans. Hence buying rounds specifically loaded for your barrel length with 8.6 vs just buying any ammo to toss in it. It’s definitely early, and you’re investing in a round; if you change your mind it is just a barrel swap. Just my 2¢, Q is really innovative, regardless of my previous not positive experiences with them; this round shows major promise.
