You know, I suspect a 1000 grains could punch through with a bodkin and maybe 100#'s behind the arrow.

Would be interested to see if a stronger arrow setup would do anything different against the ceramic plate

That arrow setup doesn’t sound the strongest. 6.5 is a pretty brittle lite arrow and they are probably using hit inserts and no shock collars. Of course the arrow is going to bloom out on every single shot.

@darkwandervids6717 Exactly, I know it wouldn't make a big difference, but a 5mm victory arrow with titanium hardware. I think it would be cool to see how much of a difference it makes

Nice test ,however in a shtf scenario your head, neck, shoulders ,lower abdominal muscles, butt,legs is wear most are going to hit you ,an arrow through any of these areas and you are done

Totally expected. No arrow or setup will touch hard armour. Try soft armour…you might be surprised by the results.

Just shows armor works. Interesting to see modern archery vs modern armor plate. Thanks for doing this. The deflection issue that you all are seeing is often prevented by a v-shaped stop rib in late 14th - early 15th Century breastplates. If you want to see historical arrows and historical armor, Tod's Workshop the Arrows vs Armor 2 series is great.

What about the iron will with an 80 pound draw? I would think that would get through a level 4 ceramic plate.

The result is very much expected. Those plates can stop .308 with 150 grains projectile traveling at 2,800 fps; no arrows will penetrate those things. Having said that, had you built the arrows with post and sleeve insert system such as one from Ethics Archery (and possibly others), very likely you would have saved those arrows.

Would have been interesting to have seen how a Tuffhead 300 grain single bevel (w 3:1 ratio) would have faired.

Ya no problem. Would be an easy shot. They used the worst possible arrows for the tests they did.

i dun mean to be rude, but with the accuracy of a compound bow and/or crossbow, there is no need to aim for center mass; neck, arm-pits, inner-side of elbow, palm/wrist, rear of kneecap and in-step should be prime targets.. i've no idea why every testing video is trying to put bow-type projectiles thru modern plate armor.. 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️😅😅

fun but step up your arrow game try some bishop fad arrows with 80 pounds 30 inch draw with some 650 grain arrows see if it does any better.

A 380 acp has more kinetic energy than a 80lb bow with a 500 grain arrow.
