Milwaukee has surprisingly great battery powered lawn and garden tools. The mower, chainsaw, weedwhip are all awesome and you have a bunch of attachments you can swap out on the weed whip like a hedge trimmer.

@@Jo-xg6rk With two 8ahs on high lift mode, with rear discharge, and cutting 2-3 inches~ dry grass , I can do about 10k~ sqft (.25 acres) Probably close to .33~ acres on low, mulching, and doing a maintenance cut. My yard also has a steep slope for 1/4 acre in the back and ditches in the front 1/4 acre, so my yard is very inefficient compared to most. I'd recommend four 5ah for 1/4 acre~(pure grass) or four 8ahs for 1/2acre~ at a minimum.

Thank you for you excellent review. I would like to add my experience with my Makita DLM537. It comes standard here with four folding cutting blades instead of the bar blade. I don't know what the technical difference are between the two mowers but haven't found any of the problems you are experiencing. Using the grass catches I haven't notice that is has left any residual grass, it picks up all the grass and leaves leaving a very clean lawn. My criticisms of the mower is that it is a very heavy requiring the drive to push it up hills, the front of the mower has a large gap between the blade limiting how close one can cut to a corner and the top of the motor can be easily scratches when mowing under tree branches and could possibly break the battery cover if care isn't taken. I have also found that mowing in quiet mode is suitable for nearly all my mowing. Where I need to mow thick grass clumps it has enough power without stalling in normal mode.

I'm all for battery, I have a lot of Ego stuff but my old Lawnflite 553HWS-PRO is built like an absolute tank and starts first pull. You can't beat Honda engineering 😁

Honda Engines are great, not sure about their modern machines though if I’m honest 👍🏼 but you have a great combo with the Lawnflight 👍🏼

I would really be interested in the retail price of each of the mowers as well as the length of the commercial vs residential warranties. I really like the overall fair comparisons between the mowers! I am waiting till the kinks are out before purchasing.

My biggest issue with battery mowers is unknown battery life. I've got a lot of milwaukee tools and haven't had a battery fail yet, but I've heard the EGO batteries last 4-5 years. Especially in a commercial setting, I'd be surprised if they would last 5 years using them to mow all day 5-6 days a week. I guess in 10 years we'll have some better numbers, but I think people are going to have to carry and charge a lot of batteries and go through a lot of batteries. Remember, these are the small mowers. The few zero turn electric mowers use at least four batteries. Someone is going to have to have 20 batteries charged and ready to go every day minimum. And again, unknown battery life under commercial use.

Las baterías si son de calidad pueden durar perfectamente 2000 ciclos de carga por lo que son rentables respecto a la gasolina. Además tienen mercado para venderlas usadas y recuperar parte de la inversión. El problema es que la mayoría de la gente no sabe cómo cuidarlas y las maltrata en exceso. Hay que acostumbrarse a no descargarlas por debajo de, al menos, el 10% de su carga, preferiblemente el 20%. La mayoría de la gente siempre las usa hasta descargarlas completamente y esto reduce mucho la vida útil. No se las debe someter a exceso de descarga o temperatura usando una batería demasiado pequeña para una máquina que demande mucha energía en poco tiempo, siempre intentar usar baterías grandes en este tipo de máquinas, aunque aumente el peso. Deben ser bien almacenadas en un lugar protegido de la humedad y las temperaturas extremas.

I saw a youtube demonstration of a panel of e-mowers. The Echo battery was warranted for 2 years and the rest for 5 years. Battery life is a big consideration.

Great video James. a magnet instead of a flap on a commercial unit ooooooooo errrrrrrr. Stihl did better than I expected, I stalled one twice doing a similar experiment. Had similar issue with a 80v Makita mower, 48cm, poor collection but better than the ego 47cm, but Makita should be adjusting their blades, which is very important for max lift and run time.

Definitely one of the best comparison videos I've seen James! do you reckon it's a design flaw on the Makita, maybe the shoot is too narrow or not enough lift on the blade?

I recon blade design more than anything by the looks of things. It is the most used mower we had, but everything checked out ok and blade was sharpened prior to use. Hopefully Makita will supply me with another one to test and I will let you all know.

Makita's new 40v mowers particularly the 19 inch version fixes a lot of issues the lxt line have. Would have been great to see the new line than the old one.

I believe the big battery mower is based on the LXT line. I don't know of there is big battery version of the XGP 40v line. Apologies if I'm incorrect.

Yo tengo el lm001cz y ahora lo uso exclusivamente para mulching con una cuchilla específica, así funciona muy bien y la autonomía ha aumentado notablemente. Es una lástima no poder recoger la hierba, pero al menos le he encontrado un uso.

Would be good to know how much lift/suction each mower has. Eg do one strip each at same height and distance. Then compare how much is collected in the mower

Nice one James Interested to see the results of part 2 like all battery tools you are investing in the battery platform witch gives Milwaukee / Makita as you need Drill battery's all year round tempted by the Stihl but some of the reviews are a bit negative are Ego selling that power unit the general public yet ? i cant believe how much your grass has grown you must have warm weather down there im in the south east and still cold and not growing liking the sthil but still happy with me ego lm21 probabley due an upgrade after 5 years use but still going strong

Yeah we have a bit of grass, mainly just winter growth though. Now the cold weather is back it won’t grow for a week or two haha.

Me experience of ego batteries is bad. Two 5.0 ah batteries and two rapid chargers and still it didn’t charge a battery to full. Absolute dross in my eyes.

After talking to most of my neighbors with cordless electric mower, they all say wait. They have problems with batteries, and as usual all the companies lie about runtime on a charge. It's truly a shame because electric motors are far superior in every way to ICE . However, nothing new, the batteries are inconsistent and expensive. Yet another year I am going to pass. Will lithium ION batteries every be replaced with a superior battery tech? I have my doubts, I have been hearing about better batteries for a decade now, and nothing. I am going to pass and I hate maintaining my 4 cycle engines.
