Nova is not being ignored. She did and does go on the patio with her harness on. We only have 4 hands and 12 paws to manage - if I'm holding Conan and Roman is filming, we don't have enough hands to have both cats on the balcony for safety reasons. @@romanjuliavlogs - You are so correct about young cats not being "good" about heights. Every kitten I have had would be on a chair, take a step and then wonder why they are now sprawled on the floor! Thankfully, at around 12-15 months, cats normally develop depth perception and will no longer blithely walk off of a third story deck. At that point, my cats commonly decide that sitting outside the railing (or on the railing) is a great way to enjoy the view, knowing that "mom" will not freak out too much - just enough to make it fun - because she (me) know they 1) won't step off and 2) won't fall because of their body awareness and balance.

We are much higher up than the third floor. Even with developed depth perception, every cat has a different level of fearlessness and foolishness and Nova has too much of both e.g. she will consistently put her nose near and paw at hot pans even though her whiskers tell her they're hot. Both Bengals and Abyssinians are known to be too brave that it gets them in trouble. We aren't comfortable having her on the balcony without a leash and harness, so that's the approach we take. Every pawrent and fur baby is different and is free to do what works best for them. We take no chances here!
