We finally begin converting this ‘kind of’ campervan in to a real campervan! We bought the van last month and it already came insulated, ply lined and carpeted however we had to pull it all apart to see what's really behind the scenes. The white isolation looks like plastic isolation that is made of recycled bottles and is perfect for cars. Works well for sound isolation too, only minus that it's pretty expensive. Worth of saving every bit even if it is a bit dusty as yours.

Hey loved your pics from Morocco! Sorry y'all got sick on your return...try some elderberry green T good source of vitamin C to build up your immune system & even better if you add some fresh lemon juice! So if ypu want to re-insulate those hollow tubes heres how: get a light wieght piece of rope or "pull string" make a hangmans type loop ( meaning it can cinch tight) on one end. On the other end (if needed add a small nut for wieght) & drop it in the metal tubing you can also use a collapsable tent pole for fishing wire etc. Anyway slip your wires or whatever your pulling in through your loop and pull it through. If you cant get to the pulling end (the end that you dropped in) use a coat hanger or a small hook to grab it out. Good start on your new project guys! 🙂🙃😉

Hi, if there are no roof leaks, the damp is probably condensation, I noticed the van had no vapour barrier, looking forward to the build. 🙂

So far no roof leeks so deffo think it’s condensation build up in the roof. They must have been popping a kettle on right under that wet spot 😆

Did you find out what the dampness what’s in the side panel? I have a master van, same year and when I stripped the old ply of my had the same thing. I have treated the rust by how did you seal up?

Hey, yes, there are little holes for the clips to hold the side trims on which was letting water to get in. As the previous owner had filled it with insulation it wasn’t allowing the water to escape easily. You can either seal the holes which might make it hard to get the trims off or just leave the gaps free so the water can get through and escape 😊 just make sure to clear the holes at the bottom if doing the latter 🙌🏼

Hi , why does everyone insist on sound deadening . We never did and in 3 years can't see / hear the difference . Regards Vince

There is quite a big difference in the sound of the metal with/without it. But if the tinny rain sound doesn’t bother you then there is no problem not having it 🤗

@@nicroams True but once you are all done with insulation , vapor barrier , walls , cupboards , bedding etc etc you can't hear it anyway unless someone is banging on the outside of your van . Good luck with the build .
