I’m married to a Nigerian and please believe, they have no issue voicing their opinion on an American dish. It’s about preference. Texture is a huge part of food preference. There are some Nigerian dishes that I love and some stuff just ain’t for me. That’s a human thing

@Thelitsquad I’m Ghanaian And Fufu is predominately eating amongst Ghanaians and other west African countries varying in make up. In Ghana you have Plantain Fufu which is pounded plantain with cassava And Yam fufu which is usually puna Yam with cassava Of which these two are eating with light soups and with either fish or any other meat Egusi is traditionally Nigerian and eating with pounded Yam and NOT FUFU I cringe anytime I see people who get Egusi and mix it with FUFU and I ain’t even naij Cassava leaf is most commonly eating with rice and with NOT FUFU don’t know for the life of me why people in America think it is 🤷🏾‍♂️ and is seria Leone dish Asf jellof rice it’s common across west African and most common with Ghana and Nigeria and usually eating with fried plantain and assorted meat weather chicken , beef , goat , oxtail Just letting yall Americans know cause in the UK theirs a large Ghanaian and Nigerian community especially in London’s where I was born and live

We eat okra too, we eat beef stew, we have all types of rice from creole rice, to red beans and rice, to red rice(made with tomato sauce like jollof), we eat lamb… we season our foods similarly… the thing is its JUST FOOD. And rice+meat is a staple food in almost every country. The cuisine is good but its not unique to just Nigeria.

I thought the thing that would turn people off from it is the different smells, or the way it looks/is eaten, but that's probably all part of it. Good to see you tasting my Nigeria food for the first time. Fufu is usually eating by swallowing it along with Egusi soup or other soups. The Cassava soup is mostly taken by Sierra Leoneans. Anyway, Kudos to you for tasting Africa food.
