Afternoon tea is when you have too much time and money and have tea parties in the afternoon. The pinky is not raised, it's used with the ring finger to stabilize the cup. Clotted cream and jam from common vessels are put on your plate and then spread on the scone, not directly from the common bowl. The "pastries" are better served in bit sized servings and one of each variety per person. A small piece of Victoria sponge, a macaron, a petit four, etc., it's not common to see giant cafe-style croissants and danishes in this course. You don't use a cork screw to open sparkling wine, you use your hand. Charcuterie is not part of tea.
