The classifier of African people in general is pretty poor. For one, anything they don’t classify as Bantu is thrown into Afro Asiatic and Nilo-Saharan. The Nilo-Saharan range from Nigeria to like Kenya despite having almost no differences. The language isn’t even in the same group! Hausa is not remotely similar to Luo, yet they all fall under this Nilo Saharan banner. Kikuyu isn’t similar to Wolof but again, somehow these are Bantu languages. It seems to me, poor research got us here. The similarity in cuisine comes from thousands of years of trade.
