you know what would be really cool, if you hadn't already thought of this, would be to mount a video camera on the back side of the wall to be constantly recording whatever is going on on that side & be able to play it on this tv - that way it would look like there is just a true window in the wall or even a big rectangular hole in the wall when there really wasn't one. of course I suppose, however, if nothing interesting is ever happening back there it might be quite a waste of time to bother doing this.

Yeah, Yvonne was pregnant AF and helped coordinate and implement the entire linus-office-renovation video project. It's not easy to paint a room without people growing inside of you. Their website even lists her as having the most chaotic employment roll out of the entire staff while raising kids.

You can make the wooden frame so it hides the bezels i could make any modern TV fit in that wall... useless in my opinion. They should have hide the ribbon in the wall and that's it

Same thing went through my head, i guess it just makes things easier if you have a thinner wall and blocking off the bezel on a normal TV may cover the IR receiver? Just small things but maybe it helped

I have a little Ridgid 7-1/4" cordless brushless dual bevel sliding miter saw and I love it, it is sweet for cutting 2x4s and trim and boards up to 2x8 and it covers most of what I usually cut, still I want the Milwaukee cordless 10" miter saw for cutting larger stuff, one of theses days I will end up getting it lol! Update I got myself a Milwaukee 10" M18 FUEL Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw like the one in the video 5:44 and I freaking love it, best 10" miter saw I've had and going cordless is sweet plus I got the same portable Milwaukee stand with it for free thru a promo!👍

Most screens need ventilation to work,so they can't be put inside a wall. This one doesn't. Also there's image quality. OLED is really nice.

I think this is the first time Yvonne has really been featured specifically on camera, other than just being in the background. Am I wrong? I have to say, Linus and Yvonne, you two really do make an attractive couple, and you're clearly a team both responsible for raising adorable children, oh, and actual literal kids too. The former, obviously, being the staff and channel itself xD Seriously, this makes me just want to stop to say congratulations for the life you share, because if your public facing life is similar to your private life (none of my business, of course), then you've worked hard to achieve something most people would be lucky to have. exactly same! Pure plain Window is rather unusual without curtains of any kind... Plus, I am wondering about the final effect, does this TV glitters? compared to sun light it definitely won't have the warmth radiating power, but at least visually I wonder if it can do the trick

Heat wouldn't be that much of an issue, after all the heat would mostly be the actual display and light, not the driving stuff. In any case they could have had it less recessed than they did. I was expecting the bevel to be pushed against the inside of the wall or even flush with the wall. This is right up against the back.

Just an idea, hook up a webcam and a pc. Run a simple program that does head tracking, and using that track data to apply depth and angle change to a parallax image, giving a Sudo fake 3D look to it. for better emerson :3 I'll go smack a programmer to make such program :)

Yes! That would be amazing! The cool thing is that Linus has access to 8K footage,so even when zooming in on stuff (to give the parallax effect), he can still keep a very crisp image

genki831 yeah I'll be honest, this is really fucking annoying. Even to the point I don't feel like watching the final part out of spite. Didn't get it fully done in time? Well push back the episode until it's done. Want to make more money by breaking it into multiple episodes? Fine, but drop them all at the same time. This is not some giant dramatic show that keeps people on the edge of their seats, just finish the damn thing. At this point there are multiple things going on that have yet to be concluded and it feels very amateur to do that.

Yeah, I agree. And now that they've decided to recess it INSIDE a wall, the whole point of using an ultra-flat TV for this application is now gone. You know, they spend so much time doing this outlandish shit these days, I really miss the past when Linus Tech Tips featured genuine tech tips, as well as the cool performance and gaming PC builds that real people could actually afford to do.

So the bezels don't take away from the effect, and the fact it mounts magnetically to a panel. It would be harder to do with a traditional wall mount as it would be impossible to remove when it ever needs to.

They are making it look like a window so it has to be recessed in as windows are almost never flush with a wall on the inside. Picking a thicker TV would have made them cut deeper or all the way through leaving ugliness on the other side.

What Linus should do is get a black magic micro cinema camera and mount it in the very top corner of the office/warehouse. Then run a hdmi directly to the tv and have it display a live feed to the “window”.
