I am so happy for you Mike and Lacy that the neighbour was in agreement to use that land and that it is walking distance. Now all Mike needs is one of those golf car looking thing and he would be able to maintain and look after the animals when they arrive on the property. Well done. Loved seeing the horse and how sweet you are to bring him treats. As a long time horse owner, I am partial to them and think all your children would enjoy having a horse added to the homestead.

They are a huge commitment though. But such a great responsibility lesson for the kids. One of the best things was joining pony club with a leased horse for my daughter

@@storytime9617 I think any living creature is a huge commitment and since they won't have to pay monthly board fees for a horse, and probably can administer their own vaccinations, cost will be at a minimum. The only part I doubt they could handle is the feet because they are extremely important and depending on the horse and nail growth, they need to be trimmed at least every 8 to 12 weeks until winter when the growth slows down and they aren't stomping their feet due to flies. But I agree with you, having a horse or pony with children is a wonderful thing.

In tears excited for you. My daughter just lost a pasture that she worked to improve for 2 years and it has really discouraged her. I'm telling you this so you would get something in writing. God bless your heart, I'm 55 so baby days are FAR OVER for me but when I was pregnant with my last baby I swore up and down I wouldn't be seen OUT toward the end of my pregnancy but Husband had other plans we walked/I waddled Walmart, Malls and the Apt Complex every day and night right up till time for me to go in to have her, needless to say it helped tremendously when it came to everything being loosened up in order to have her so your doing the right thing keep up the good work guys...A loyal Subscriber Connie C

Congratulations on the successful expansion of your homestead. I'm hoping that you have that verbal agreement contracted on paper with each party. I suggest that your discussions could continue with or without a lawyer cause all you may need is a notary to sign the agreed upon actions. I really liked the patchwork skirt your daughter wore. Would like to hear you compliment her more on camera. I know you love her, but girls need to hear it more than boys.

I had Horses & have ridden all my life it is one of the greatest bonds you can ever have. I really hope Salah can experience that too. I'd recommend getting a Donkey instead of a horse as a donkey will protect your homestead from dangerous predators and still you get that horse like interaction with a donkey and could even ride a donkey..a horse will not chase or kill predators like a donkey will..

Donkeys have also been known to kill small livestock and pets. Donkeys don’t have guarding abilities. They have “kill whatever they don’t like” ability.

@@tanneradams20 I'm sure its a case by case situation just like dogs..I'm simply saying that a donkey is probably better to have then a horse in a homestead situation..they have goats and typically donkeys and goats get along well enough..obviously a good herding breed dog would be better..but given the fact of them considering a horse someday the recommendation of a donkey comes to mind vs a horse..

We get so much rain. Our back yard barely dries, not all the way, then it rains again. Our back yard floods up to the back door. More rain is coming. Use of that pasture land is awesome. I am so happy for y'all.

We're in Northwest Georgia and have had so much rain! Our yards are soggy even two days after the rain passes and by the time it has almost dried enough to drive our small tractor on (without marring the yards too much) it begins to rain again! Congrats on being able to expand the offerings for your animals! That is such a blessing and could not have come at a better time, with the new little one's arrival quickly approaching and the need for more forage areas for your animals. I very much enjoy your videos - I wish my children would be even half as helpful and inteersted in gardening and taking care of animals as your are. (My youngest is 14 though...)

This video made me cry! Watching all of you scale that fence was wonderful. How many times in a man’s life will he be able to explore with his children in such a way that he knows what an impact this will bring to them? They all could see the dream! Look for a used side by side with a tilting bed. It’s almost like having a mini pick up truck. It’ll make towing pens & feed much easier. Some of them even have winches on the front. With 4 wheelers you need a trailer.
