And it's more than likely his last tournament. With a great team on paper. And it's culminated in us scoring 2 goals I'm 4 games against Iceland, Serbia, Denmark, Slovenia.....not passing 1 XG in either game. We play like a small country NOT the richest FA in the world with supposedly the best league in the world. It's sad. I genuinely don't think we should just turn up and steamroller teams- I'm not arrogant.....but come-on..... Did you watch the analysis after the game last night? It's pathetic how much they focused on 1 move at the end- when we made 1 incisive pass from Gordon, 1 flick from Mainoo and a tame effort from Palmer. The highlight of the entire 90mins against a team who didn't want to get out of their own half and fell over at every opportunity 😂😂😂 Fair play to you if you were on the edge of your seat in any of the last 4 games. I hope you had fun 🫡 But judging by the reaction in the stadia and in the press- the majority didn't....and he comes out and chats about how hes made it 'Fun for the players'.....🤷 Goodness me- it's like he's managing the u13s FFS. I work at an academy of an Italian team with a lot of foreign coaches and we are a laughing stock!

That's so stupid. The players need time to play together and work as a team, once every four years is just not enough time, especially when everyone is distracted with their clubs as it is. Less club time, more national team time :) Clubs are just corrupt businesses anyway. It's all about who can buy the best players for the best price, and essentially whoever has the most money will have a bigger advantage. The national team is something far more special, and the players will always prefer playing for their country, so long as the fans stay loyal and don't make them feel like shit.

@@jakemidgley7988 Yeah they all looked thrilled to be playing for their countries 😆😆 Most performing badly and they're getting booed many of their own fans. Most playing for sub standard managers. This has been a borefest. Club football is all that matters unless you support a lower league team or a small national team.

At least that's the case for the England players, and I've certainly seen the same for South American players also. Kyle Walker said winning the euros means more to him than the treble! Winning trophies for your country means far more than for a club that you likely have no affiliation with other than your salary.

@jakemidgley7988 I have listened to many players say the exact opposite. Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard, Paul Scholes all said playing for their clubs meant more. There was a time various players from rival clubs barely spoke to each other on international duty. MU players sat away from Chelsea and Liverpool players etc.. There isn't the same feel to international games, fans aren't anywhere near as passionate about the national team either. I don't know a single person who owns an England shirt.

I watch a lot of teams, as I don't have a club which I support. I just watch a lot of football because I enjoy watching the players. Every time I hear players discuss their careers and aspirations, they always state that their national team caps mean more than anything, and that there's nothing more special than the feeling of getting to play for your country. I'm not a fan of Carragher, so I really couldn't care less what he thinks. English people are very negative about England as a country in general, and that really needs to change. This is also an issue which George Orwell addressed almost 75 years ago. In his essay 'The Lion and the Unicorn,' Orwell lamented the lack of genuine patriotism among the English, noting how the intelligentsia were often disconnected from patriotic sentiments. This lack of national pride stems from a culture of cynicism and self-deprecation, the same reason why British comedy is so good. He argued that this disdain for national pride contributed to a weakened sense of national identity and unity. And although this may seem irrelevant, it's essentially the reason that people like you complain all the time and feel less pride for your country. There's a lot to be proud of and a lot to feel positive about. Just remember that the mindsets of the players are greatly impacted by the attitudes of the public. Football clubs are just businesses at the end of the day. National teams stand for something much greater and much more significant.
