@@Random_dud31 Blame Elon. He's causing a disaster over on Twitter and KZfaq have turned their defences up to 11, fearing that this "contagion" might spread to other social media. You'll also notice that they're messing around with usernames and adding a Twitter-like "@" in front of names, which I think is part of the defences to harden up usernames to avoid the rampant impersonation going on at Twitter with the blue tick disaster coming over here. I don't doubt all the social media are hardening defences right now. To keep the Twitter meltdown strictly happening on Twitter alone.

I liked much more gamer's nexus review of the 4080. The main point was that the price to performance almost didn't change. For me it's a very important metric and the main point of the release

Yup. GN kept it simple. Price to Performance one of the worst. Even though the card itself was good. LTT had the original title as Nvidia lied to us in a good way! Thumbnail was Anthony and around wattage that it used. AMD was mentioned as a bare minimum. Like we know it is good, 4090 already proved the Ada Lovelace GPU's will be good. The main issue that was price to performance felt like they just weren't focussed on that aspect. It's a review, but just not the hardware aspects. That is just one part to a product. It's an important part, but still just a part.

Hey, just a point of clarification as someone who lives in Dublin and has friends at twitter! Initially it WAS absolutely a 'get back to the office or else' scenario. The stance only changed when it was highlighted that this literally wasn't possible for some employees, also entirely likely that the new owner realised that Ireland has a lot more protections than other places and that would not fly legally
@x0rn312

Linus, the way at will employment works in the US is that if you don't have a contract either party can terminate the employment at any time but that doesn't preclude an employee who's fired illegally from filing suit, as they are still protected by federal labor and anti discrimination laws and stuff like that. So you've got to look at both the state and federal laws to really understand the whole system.

Employment law in Ireland puts the burden of proof on the EMPLOYER. Which means if I claim I was fired illegally, they have to prove they fired me legally. So I start my lawsuit from a much stronger position. If, on preponderance of the evidence, it is not clear I was fired for a legal reason - I win. The US doesn't have that AND has at-will employment. With the rapid increase in prices across the board for PC hardware over the last few years, it's actually difficult to be excited about new hardware launches. On top of that, it seems most new hardware is taking a brute force approach, where the performance increase is mostly mirrored by the power usage. With the global increase in electricity costs, this is not a good trend. I know that a lot of gamers buy hardware without actually considering the running costs, but at this point, we're seeing total system power consumption actually reaching upwards of 800-1000W for a really high end system. To me, an exciting hardware launch next cycle would be same performance as now, with significantly less power usage, and hopefully lower prices.

There is one big advantage to having your own dive computer; the no--fly-time, the time you need to breath off the nitrogen from your blood to stop it from bubbling at altitude, will be accurate and not affected by the diver previously diving with that device.

as a PADI divemaster, there is so much that a dive computer does. 1 basic thing is that it can run algorithms to help you stay within safe limits and at the ablsolute most basic is that it is a digital readout of manual gauges

90's fashion in Canada/US must have been vastly different from the UK. Also, as a 3090 and 4090 owner, the only thing I care about it being compared to is last gens previous top card and the competitions current top card. 90 model buyers really don't care about the price or price to performance, we simply want the highest performance available.

Not only does it still have crazy high special attack, but it can also learn Ice, Fire, and Thunder Punch which are special in that generation. You can solo run that whole game with the only tough fight being the Houdoom in the elite 4.

I think that a core issue is that fans want AMD to be propped up so that they are more competitve againt Nvidia, whilst LTT is more concered with just raw performance, features etc. and isn't concerned about that. Neither side is inherently wrong or right because they are both coming from different perspectives from the outset.

The big thing was that they fired a lot of people who were getting together to discuss workplace problems. They wrote a letter about it, publicized it, then they were all fired and publicly denounced. You can't do that in California or the U.S. without huge legal implications.

Luke, renting dive computer is fine, especially if not diving more than a few weekends a year. Just make sure you get the unit assigned to you for the entire group of dives you do (eg the whole weekend). I know people that have ended up in the chamber switching computers from Saturday to Sunday :(

On pricing stuff: Talking about it does influence people. I used to buy a lot of lootbox type stuff but the more I heard people on youtube that I respect the opinion of make arguments for why buying that stuff is a bad Idea the less lootboxy stuff I ended up engaging with. I hadn't really thought about it before and my initial reaction was pretty defensive. I do think that bringing it up excessively can be exhausting not just for you but also the viewer. All things in balance.

why are lootboxes a bad idea?
@Nabekukka
@Nabekukka Жыл бұрын
@@lchn12345678 Because it's a mechanic employed to get you hooked on the gamble, and it will most likely have you spend more money to get what you want. Let's assume that you have a certain cosmetic thing you want to get. If you can just buy the cosmetic directly, you pay the amount it costs and that's it. Now, with a lootbox system, you MIGHT get lucky and have that thing pop up on your first attempt, but most likely you're gonna have to buy multiple lootboxes in order to get what you want, and there's a good chance you'll end up spending quite a bit more money until you finally luck out and get what you want. Secondly, take a look at what happens at any game with lootbox mechanics when you open one. Flashing colors, sounds... plus more and more similar psychological tactics employed as with gambling. There was this one recent game that whenever somebody bought a lootbox, it dropped from the sky and the opening was displayed publicly to everyone else in that session. That way you get to see what that other guy got. This isn't even covering half of the psychological shit they're using against you and you probably don't even realize it until you start really thinking about it or someone aware of the tactics explains them to you. For reference, take some time to watch a video called "Let's go whaling" where a mobile game dev company CEO explains all of the tricks in detail, and if you're not disgusted by the end of the video, I don't know what else to say.

And I disagree. I never bought a single lootbox. Guess what. They never went away. Companies just realized there are other shitty ways (like battle pass, time gating content based on FOMO and forcing people to spend HOURS to play their games) to make money. Me not buying loot boxes didn't change shit.
@HHalcyon
@HHalcyon Жыл бұрын
@@The_Viktor_Reznov It's because there are enough dumb people to go with it. You've made the right choice but most people aren't wise enough in many aspects. The sad truth is that most people are stupid. By all accounts you may not be the brightest tool in the shed and when shit hits the fan in the world I might really dislike you for your selfish, extremely violent behaviour. I enjoy games where I have the option to buy skins directly from the supplier, I have the aftermarket option and very few content (preferably zero) is behind locked paywalls. And I enjoy my games. Quite a few are lifetime ownership enjoyment so idc at all. I don't need that specific title to make my day and then shell out my hard earned money for unnecessary content. And pay2win games are absolute shit. Whenever I see a game that is "grind to no end or pay" I see it as zero-worth game and it shouldn't have a place among players but alas, they do.

I’ve thought about RDNA 3 pricing and it is up if you consider the 6900xt was $999 as a 3090 competitor, while now the 7900xtx is a $999 4080 competitor, where the 3080 competitor, aka 6800xt, was $650. At best it’s only up from that to $899 but it’s still pushing the xx80 tier up by 40%

@@aravindpallippara1577 AMD said it didn’t target the 4090, but they are going against the 4080. My only hope is they have something crazy they are saving for a later launched 7970 or 7990 to combat the 4090. But yes at best the xtx could be close to the 4090 in raster.
