I had to try and learn classical style when I started music school, as well. The Segovia scales kicked my ass and I had poor coordination in my right hand since I had never tried fingerpicking like that before. Luckily, and perhaps detrimentally, I switched to a different major in music school and was able to play jazz guitar instead, with a pick and electric guitar. Great times that changed my life forever.
