Saw the Book of Mormon last year on a train strike day: one of the names Elder Cunningham called Nabalungi was "National Rail Train Strikes" - that one got a big laugh on that day 😂😂

I'm an Ex-Mormon from Salt Lake City and one of my life goals is to one day see a live performance of The Book of Mormon. Unfortunately, everytime the show has toured here, it completly sells out in about 30 seconds.

The Apollo Victoria is totally my favourite theatre - the theme is "A Mermaid's Dream of Heaven". So while the green is very, very appropriate for the long-running resident, it's also just right for the architecture already. It's just such a gorgeous space!

i saw operation mincemeat last night and i already had high expectations because of your recent review but i was absolutely blown away!! the cast were just spectacular- my mum was saying in the interval that she just could not believe there were only five cast members, each character was so well thought out and differentiated it was as if they were mutating on stage! and the score was spectular, particular highlights for me were the song 'Dear Bill', the whole audience was completely silent and the applause went on for what felt like an age afterwards, and the opening of act two was INSANE in every sense of the word. after it finished I said to my mum, "It does feel a bit strange clapping for the SS though doesn't it?" and then of course Zoe Roberts' "Really? Who's side are you on?" had us in stitches! just incredible, i couldn't recommend it enough! side note: we had Holly Sumpton in the role of Monty etc, and Zoe Roberts in the role of Bevan and they were both fantastic! i am incredibly gay for the entire cast tbh

I love that you saw Secret Life of Bees. I mixed that show when it was a workshop at New York Stage and Film in 2017, so it's good to see actual productions of it getting produced.

Love this video! The seriousness of “what if they have no cake!” Love it! I wished I had got to go to the bake-off musical but didn’t really realise it was such a short run! Also when I went to the last stop and last performance on the waitresss tour they had run out of most of the merch including programmes but did get an apron instead!🐸

Many, many a year ago, I attended Starlight Express, in the very theatre which now hosts Wicked. It gave me a lovely twinge of nostalgia to see those for hire opera glasses -- I believe the fee back then was a six-pence coin? Those have never been a thing in Broadway houses -- because they would all get stolen. Nice to know West End still has them.

Oh my God, hey Mickey Joe! I just saw BOM in New York 4th row isle. It was one of the best theater experiences of my entire life. Definitely the hardest I have ever laughed in a theater before. Phenomenal job by the cast as well! I also loved all of the small jokes in the props and just the constant opportunity for the laughs (which surprisingly landed every time, the audience was loving it.) Loved hearing your thoughts on the show itself and the changes made post-pandemic. Was it a stop on your Broadway journey as well? If so, would love to hear your thoguhts! I love Lucy St Louis' Glinda, she really wears her heart on her sleeve, and already I can see how much she is growing in the role. Helen Woolf is a hard act to follow for me, because Helen's Glinda was so complex and layered. Her emotions in NOMTW were heartbreaking and beautifully conveyed. But I must admit that Lucy's emotions by For Good are absolutely devastating!

Love the colour matching the outfits to the shows! It's not something I always do but have done a few times this year: red for Moulin Rouge (ofc), black, white and red for Sylvia, green for Wicked and black for Cabaret. Yellow is not a colour I particularly like so never done yellow for Mincemeat! If I have a show related necklace I'll usually wear that but I only have those for Wicked and Moulin Rouge. You got to see Mincemeat with Geri, she's not been on too much so a rare and exciting cover treat for you :) I'm going back for my third Mincemeat trip in August and very excited to see who will be on then. I feel slightly dim that I couldn't tell what the artwork was before you pointed it out 😂 I'd love to see the new cast of Wicked, I've already been this year but maybe next year before the next cast change. I got stalls tickets to Wicked the last time I went and it was so cool to notice so many small details I'd missed from the circle-though I somehow never noticed Madame Morrible giving Elphaba the umbrella or at least not worked out the significance of it-good catch. I've had reasonably good luck with theatre on train strike days, but I live in London so unless the tube is on strike, it's usually fine! Having to get a 30 minute bus to Wicked rather than the usual 5 minute train to Victoria back in the winter wasn't ideal but it worked and in May when I went to see Cabaret (actually same day you guys were at Bakeoff, I think), I just got the tube so that worked fine.

I wasn't big on book of mormon when I saw it on tour but love the 🐸. Wicked is my all time favourite musical (my last visit I sat in the stalls for the first time, it was nice being close to the stage however I noticed that the actors were being drowned by the speakers of the orchestra so i prefer seats upstairs). Will have to try and catch mincemeat heard nothing but positive things. Waiting for bake off tour announcement.

about theatre seating in the u.k. - I take it the stalls are not in the restroom/water closet. And what is Dress Circle, other than a much beloved closed theatre book shop? In the states it is just lower and upper orchestra(only when you are being fancy), Box seats on the sides(usually in actual box looking spaces) , the loge(1st balcony), 1st balcony(actually the 2nd balcony) and the second and/or upper balcony. But if you grab those seats at the last balcony, either take you some binoculars , or make sure they have those big monitor screens, or you are not really seeing anything.😎

Hey Mickey Jo. I’m curious how you think Wicked is doing in London? Do you think it’s nearing its closure or still going strong? I’ve noticed that the attendance and grosses on Broadway are on a downward trend. Still doing good but 5 shows made more money last week on Broadway than Wicked.

I saw Wicked for the 15th time the other week as I managed to get a deal during Theatre Week. Hadn’t seen it for about 5 years and the majority of my past trips were during 2006-2010 during the glory years when it was truly spectacular. I couldn’t believe that no exaggeration, half of the lower dress circle was empty - the cheaper seats at the back were full, but honestly in my row there were only 3 people! It completely ruined the atmosphere and I don’t know why a portion of the people behind weren’t just upgraded. The comic timing was all off and I felt the majority of the cast sounded like they were going through the motions. I really really hope it was a one off and it’s not like that all of the time.
