I knew some folks who lived above the sign by Lake Hollywood. Very pretty area with lots of beautiful older homes. The access road is winding and just a two lane; so I can see why you didn't go up there. Looking forward to viewing your "Walk of Fame" video. Hope you get lots of views for your all U.S. trip videos; they are worth it!

I’ve lived in southern California my whole life. Hollywood was nice until the 60s then the rich moved to west la. Places like Beverly Hills Brentwood etc

You know, that park is only 3 miles from Craig Ferguson's Craftsman estate compound, he's sold it and moved back to Scotland a few years back.

I used to work on Melrose . When I found out everything in Hollywood was a waste of time I got out.

Never got to see the sign when I was in L.A. Mainly because I just didn’t have time as I was meeting up with friends in Hawthorne. It’s in an area I believe called Griffith Park, Mount Lee and as you say Shawn it was put up in 1923 as part of a building real estate development and just was never taken down. It fell into disrepair hence why the ‘Land’ is no longer attached to it but was repaired in 1949 and completely replaced in 1978. It’s alleged that the letter ‘H’ is haunted by a young actress who couldn’t get work in the industry and committed suicide by climbing up it, (the letters are nearly fifty feet high), and jumping to her death. It’s said that at certain times of the year her ghost is seen to walk the path up to the sign. Her name was Peggy Entwhistle. The tv series ‘Ghost Adventures’ done a very good episode on the subject.

actually most celebs live in Bel-air near the Hollywood hills. A place in bel-air is what close to a billion give or take. Bel-air is close to the studios but private enough that the press can't get near. those tour buses that you are supposed to see celebrity homes have the wrong information as its actually dated from like two years ago or more. the people don't own the homes anymore as they likely moved. The Hollywood hills Mega mansion is actually going for $1.5 billion and its its not even built yet. Several movie and sports stars are eyeing it as another home. Its one hyper modern place that's for sure once built.

Downtown Hollywood can be a reality check!....Quick fact, Why is it called Hollywood? Because Holly Wood was used to make the original magic wands. They named it after that to symbolise the smoke and mirrors of the film industry. 👍

Why can't I see a seatbelt?

I live in California and whenever I’ve gone to Europe, I’m always asked how LA/Hollywood is. People think it’s some glamorous amazing place because of how movies and reality tv shows portray it to be. I’ve always been honest and said don’t waste your time in LA haha. Of course there’s a few nice places in LA, but most of it in my opinion feels like a third world country (no offense). There’s so many beautiful places to visit in California that are leagues better than Los Angeles.

Another great video. So glad you are now allowed to the HOLLYWOOD sign again. Previously there was a trademark dispute and you would have a got a copyright takedown notice if you filmed it. Luckily, and rightly so, that got sorted and fixed. Pretty sure it now falls under first amendment rights.
