The closeness of that side is lacked today. It probably came about cause they played so many matches together and had more time to get close as friends. Think about it, how many of that side were not international cricket veterans at that point?

It cannot be developed. So stop having weird expectations from Cricketers and if u feel like there are no super quick bowlers, did u watch jofra bowling in ipl?? He was clocking 154 nortje clocking 156 and in int'l mark wood clocked 152.and if u think it's not normal, looks like u think bowling 155 is a piece of cake then why don't u pick up the ball and start bowling?

Honestly Gillespie and McGrath were very ordinary batters, our bowlers have only been good bats for the last 10 years or so. We currently have by far the best tail end in the world but it wasnt a strength of this golden team besides Warne who was pretty handy.

Glen McGrath, always the gentleman of Australian cricket. I remember early in his career he was a genuine number 11 with the bat, but he improved as his test career progressed. He put a high price on his wicket and never just threw it away. It was great seeing these wonderful video clips again. I remember one of his ambitions was to hit the willing runs in a test. From a bowler who contributed many test wickets in his career, undoubtedly being his contribution towards winning, it is amazing having an ambition like that.

TBH, players get selected on the basis of their primary job. In Gillespie's case, it was obviously bowling. He had done well with the ball in the Bangladesh series and the first class season prior to that but had struggled before that in the 2005 Ashes and his bowling was on an overall decline.
