The song is the story of his life. The motorcycle accident, the suicide attempt and his anxiety.

Did he attempt? As far as I know we don't know that. He (likely) thought about it but did he attempt? WDK.

@@keziyahhh which is why it is pure speculation what he actually did. The question I was asked in therapy is if I had thought about it. But that may or may not be the question Yoongi was asked. The question was in the direction - that is pretty certain - but the actual question and answer are only hinted at.

The amygdala also controls future responses to fear and trauma based on past experiences. It saved him before, and now that part of him, that held the trauma for him, is asking to be saved. So good.

amygdala is a song that has permanently become branded into my soul. The amount of strength he needed in order to go through all of these memories in order to create this masterpiece of a song is truly something admirable. I never related to an artist as much as I relate to yoongi. BTS has helped me so much but yoongi is definitely one member that truly has helped me so much because I could see myself in him. I am so proud of him for releasing this trilogy and thank you for reacting to this and having such a great reaction to it and sharing your own experiences!

In his songs Daechwita and Haegeum, he kills off versions of himself that have attributes and mindsets that he wants to overcome like greed, ego, materialism, etc. Both the Mad King and the Corrupt Cop/Mob Boss have the scar on their eye. In Amygdala, he self inflicts that cut as an expression of his anguish. Self harm is an unhealthy way many people resort to as a sort of relief to feel something stronger than the pain or grief they are feeling inside. Its almost like he created those past versions of himself because with all of the hurt he was feeling from actual physical pain due to his injury and the mental pain of his parents illnesses and battling depression and anxiety, he needed an escape from everything. Plus becoming a big star and getting rich after never having much at the same time you want to escape can cause you to loose yourself and become a monster. In the two previous MVs, he realized he was changing and turning into someone he didn't like, so he made the decision to end those sides of himself. This is just my interpretation and opinions about the music videos. Not actually how Yoongi was/is as a person. We can only infer the meanings based on what he has shared publicly. We all know he is a sweet kitty. 💜

Hi guys, good to see you.... The song describes Yoongi’s inner war between trying to erase his unpleasant, painful memories, his accident which led him to fall in the pain killers trap, His mother's heart disease and surgery which made him missing her love and caring when he was a child and he has to live with his grandmother for a while, his dad's liver cancer later during his career, his depression and anxiety which made him at one point sociophobic (he talked about it in his track "The Last"), his self-harm, his poverty situation when he was a teenage which made him starving a lot.... He had to handle a lot as a child and a teenage and in this track he's bringing back those memories to cope and use his amygdala to protect himself. Amygdala is a part of the neural system responsible for processing fearful and threatening stimuli, and activation of appropriate fear-related behaviors in response. Explaining the writing process for the song, Agust D talked about it in his Disney+ documentary Suga: Road to D-DAY: "In a way, we’re responsible for all our wounds and scars. No one can dodge the first arrow of trouble, of course, but when that second arrow flies at you, you’ve chosen to just stand there and get hit, rather than learn from the first time. That’s what I wanted to discuss when I was writing “AMYGDALA”." He also talked about it with Jimin in the documentary and RM in his show "Suchwita" claiming that the past have to remain in the past, and the future in the future (Maybe that why the door kept closed in the MV, his past is behind it)... He said that those two elements were causing him anxiety even tho he have no control over it, so this whole album D-Day was a way for him to liberate his mind, to let go and focus on the present.

*My own thoughts on Agust D's Triology:* Yoongi has shared his mental health issues with us since the beginning, and he stated how some of his roughest times were in the early days, like from 2014 to 2016, how he developed social anxiety at age 18, he was dealing with depression and OCD. BTS had hate coming at them from all angles, and it took a toll on them in the early years. So hearing all the other things he was dealing with as well, just puts things into perspective. He's such a strong person. In the making video, he said the scars we create are of our own making. So the best way for him to represent that was the way that he did with the scar on his face. And the medicine he took was for his condition. He talked about how he saw a psychiatrist and his parents went with him, and they said they didn't know who he was anymore. This was in "The Last" from his first mixtape Agust D. He said how could anyone know him when he doesn't know himself, so that phrase "I don't know your name" made sense to me. Looking back at repressed memories. Thankfully he got through all of it, and now is healed to a certain degree. I see the rain as a shift., He also talked about "What doesn't kill you make you stronger", and he is now blooming like a lotus flower. The lotus flower is very resilient, and can grow in mud and water, like on a lake or pond. So I see the rain as cleansing, and healing. He also said in the behind the scenes on Daechwita, that the mad King was the Agust D from his first Mixtape in 2016, and the peasant was from his 2020 mixtape D-2. You can see the scar is very raw in that video on both of them, maybe slightly less for the 2020 Agust D. In Haegeum, i interpret it as Agust D from 2020 is the Police detective/corrupt Boss, with the partially healed scar, and the Agust D that kills, and steals the money with no scar is D-Day Agust D. The one that is mostly healed and is talking about freedom. (Do we ever completely heal from our scars?) In an interview with IU, and in the D-Day film, he talks about how he was very angry and now he has forgiven the haters and is living in the present. So his music moving forward may not have the angry vibe that we have seen in the past. But he is definitely not done yet. The part where he is crawling toward the door, is the struggle to deal with all the memories and move forward. He wants to erase the memories, but in order to be whole, he has to face those memories and accept them. Only then will he be able to walk through the door. The hopeful part is where his memories acknowledged him and tried to get to him, so I think that means he is making progress. On the last day of his Agust D World Tour, he was really emotional, and at the end of the show, that door appeared, and he walked through it, smiling, and thanking ARMY;s for being with him on his journey. It was a tear jerker moment. If you get a chance, watch the last day, and the few songs where he breaks down, and ARMY's sing it for him, but he keeps on going. The man is amazing. 💜
