Yah, you do not need the plastic "backing plate" for the smaller lights. That is for the EU models that have a second rear light with turn signals, so the plastic is a bit different between EU and the US. So if you have a US model, just skip it, we made it to replicate the reflector fitment, and if you have a EU model, you most definitely need it. And regarding the installation process of the Renegade lights, yes, it's terrible, partially because the stock construction is what it is, but also we needed it to work on all model years and markets, so we know and we do have nightmares about the process. But hey, when you have done it around 100 times, it gets easier! Over and out, from the Swedish Shenaningas Division!
