You can really tell there is a bond with you and Billy. In the beginning of the video when you were rearranging the gates the other lambs would run away and billy would be fighting through them to get to you. So cute! ❤️

Kinsey gave me a darn heart attack! Running back and forth between the sheep trailer and the ramp up as you were backing up to it. That dog is so darn confident, she totally does not understand a wet icy foot slipping off the brakes! *deep breath* Well little hiccups notwithstanding, this was a great video - because the result was what you needed. So there we are! Your turn Sandi. Take a *deep breath* Hugs to your helpers! And more to you! Job done and well!

You are amazing! I ❤️ the noise. The girls are so much fun to see. Your dog is precious. She knows she is supposed to have a job and will do it when she figures out what it is. Billy and Belle (?) are definitely the prom court in that whole lambing. I don’t miss those Canadian winters. Spring is coming 🤩

Sandi, I know it was a heckish day for ya dealing with blunders. But it made my morning in a roundabout way. I watch your videos each morning to help start my day, and you could have been in a sitcom with how those sheep were sneaking past, I love the caption ya give trying to warn yourself lol super funny. When a hard day happens like that, (i.e. tasks just don't seem to go to plan) try to think of life as a sitcom maybe? I know personally, everything feels easier if I think somehow it brought a smile to someone else's face. Thanks for the laugh Sandi! Keep up the awesome work! I love watching the videos you make! Oh, and I bet Billy was just going, "Mama Sandi I just want kisses, where are you taking meeeeeee"

Jess looks just like you. When you were backing up the trailer, I thought it was you throwing the signals but it was Jess. I can see how much Jess hates working with the sheep🙁. I think it awesome that Jess may not like the sheep very much but she still helps out. At her age, she certainly has options in life and wouldn't be there if she didn't reap some kind of benefit from it all.

Have you ever considered picking one of the smallest lambs from the next oldest group and putting it in with the newly weaned lambs so it can teach them how to use the waterers? When we raise chicks and ducklings a lot of times we will put a slightly older baby in with the new babies and they will teach them about the food and water a lot faster then we can teach them

Mature ewes at the start. Sandi’s sheep live on five star rations but these ewes remember the routine from last lambing and first to the buffet wins! It is still a stunning sight.

I would be wearing some kind of ear protection when the lambs gets so noisy. Hopefully nobody sues you. I myself would never sue you. I love watching the little lambs jumping around and climbing on anyone that will let them! My love and best wishes to you and your family/employee. Babbit 💜💜

So happy the Billy the Kid is staying. If you have any artist friends, you should get them to do a portrait of him ( like the do of Cow heads) and make prints and sell them! I would definitely buy one. Just bought a cow print from Helen one of the farmers on the Hoof GP channel. Sandy I love your channel and all the Sheeps!

Had an idea to help you with bottle babies. When Mommie's give birth to only one baby, take a bottle or 2 of the colostrum and use it on the bottle babies. The Mommie's will still have enough for the one baby and you can have colostrum for 2 or 3 bottle babies 👍🐑

Kensie was a good girl at the beginning....waiting outside the fence and not getting too worked up when you moved them from the pen to the handling system(you forgot to tell her good girl). after that she got really excited and got the lambs a bit worked up.(you didn't tie her) but all in all not a bad day.😊 I totally feel you on snow...it didn't snow as much here but just enough to make it a nightmare and not worth the drive to town!

It's a 3 Stooges moment watching 4 sheep try to exit the trailer at the same time. My closed csptioning once indicated the sheep were saying Yeah. Go figure. Sorry to see all the snow.

Couple suggestions. 1. Maybe when you are sorting them, send the lambs straight to the trailer instead of having to run them through the handler twice. It might seem slower cause you're used to doing each task separately, but it might also cut out time overall. 2. You have the wood ramp for loading the lambs. Maybe also set that out for unloading. Might take some of their hesitation out of jumping down out of the trailer. 3. Hang a bright light in the trailer? You've mentioned they seek light, and avoid shadows and dark places. Maybe they'll more easily head inside the trailer if its not dark in there.

I will bet that's the same storm I got. We get everything from the north, north west. I wound up with over 3 ft. On my deck. Must be hard with animals to care for. I just have 1 dog now and thankgoodness my grandson didn't have to go to work( everything including roads were closed) so he could shovel for her to potty. You are brilliant with how you run this operation.

I can’t believe how fast it has gone sandi babies r nearly as big as the mothers now and the barn look so empty now I was a bit slow the smornin my daughter had me up all night I’m glad u had some help :)billy is going to miss seein u all the time

As farmers when we need to separate members of a mob of sheep all we want is for the sheep to run evenly through the race/chute so as not have to handle each sheep one by one. So the mob moved perfectly as you saw. Perfect for everyone except the person in the drafting gate. It is hard work and reflexes are just part of the battle. Drafting fully grown sheep based upon say the colour of the ear tag when moving at this speed is hard. The weight/force of a moving sheep is heavy. A three way drafting gate is even more complex. The job Causes long term rotator cuff and ligament/tendon damage in shoulders. I always opted for the role of the pusher to feed the race/chute in part because I am only 157 cm and not tall enough to see in wooden drafting systems.

When will you introduce the lambs/sheep that you are keeping into your main flock, and how do you go about doing it? Love the videos and your reaction time is a lot faster than mine would be!

I have a feeling that Billy the Kid, and the Teardrop sister, and the others she is keeping (Popcorn's babies?).... will provide her plenty of material for future videos. I'm so looking forward to those videos!!!

@@LadyLithias She only has one painted ram that I've seen, and he's most likely the father to most if not all the painted lambs. Though there was one painted lamb that had a white twin so I wonder if sheep can have Superfecundation (different fathers in the same 'litter' or 'lambing' in this case), or if it's just hidden genetics at play (since we can only really see the basic lines).

@@_Fizel_ She has 4 or 5 painted lambs, most of whom are probably Billy's babies. yes they can have multiple fathers per "litter". She has stated that she is hoping to keep Billy Junior (weaned some time ago) and Billy the Kid (weaned this weekend), and Billy the Kid's sister. She's talked about keeping the painted babies, but I don't know if it means that she is planning on keeping EVERY painted lamb, or if she is only planning on keeping the three she mentioned specifically. As far as mature breeding rams, yes, she only has one who is painted, but it is a recessive gene, so it could be some of the other Rideau rams have the gene.

Thank you for explaining about the waxy plug. I have nothing to do with sheep, other than thinking lambs are cute ;) and started following you from a lambing video. However I used to breed pedigree cats and they have a waxy plug too, I just never knew what it was for...………….never too old to learn something new!Mandy

Holy mountains of snow! I’m in Northeastern PA and we’re having an extremely mild winter. I didn’t get to make a snowman or snow angel yet! I’m 43 with major spinal issues but I still love to play in the snow.
