What makes this even more hilarious is that Phil is in the depressed phase where he’s so tired of reliving the day that he mostly stays in bed after smashing the alarm. Apparently he decided to go out and do his job broadcasting this one time just to shit on everyone e because he was bored.

One of the greatest deliveries of a line in ANY movie. Murray kills it! You can FEEL all the hopelessness and anger that he's having to live out. Murray's performance is why this movie is in my Top 5 of all time.

I love how Bill Murray can take a funny moment and transform it into a dramatic moment without any warning. He really balances the light and the darkness very well in this movie (when there ARE dark moments, that is).

A member of a band I saw said "It's going to be cold. It's going to be gray. And it's going to last you the rest of your life" right before they played their last song. I had no idea he was quoting this but makes sense now because they always quote 80s and early 90s music. Especially in their song titles.

I've been to groundhogs day celebration in Punxsutawney, it was ridiculous and I left there with a very similar attitude to Bill here. I went to college in Indiana, PA which is right by it. There were thousands and thousands of people, big generator lights everywhere and the noise was crazy. It is no mystery why the groundhogs go back in, they're scared to death.
