More fantastic lessons! I have done band weaving using a Sunna Heddle (Sami bands from northern Sweden) and also card weaving, but I wanted to try this too - thank you again! Love your lessons - Sami Martel :)

If you tie the last warp thread around the start peg, like you have done in this video, how do you advance the warp later?

I don't actually do it that way anymore, I tied the first warp thread to the last warp thread instead.

Hi Kelly When finishing warping, I can’t figure out how to tie the last warp thread onto the first one without ending up with a warp thread crossing all the other diagonally is you know what I mean. Any advice welcome! Thank you.

I leave a the first and the last warp thread longer. I loosely tie them together behind the band, then again in front. That keeps them out of the way until you've advanced the warp quite a way, at which point the first warp thread is fully incorporated and the last warp thread needs to be tied again separately to re-tension it.

The maximum width depends on your inkle loom. The loom I'm using in the video can weave a 3 inch width and an Inklette can weave up to 2 inches width.

I don't have a video on that at this point Lynda - in fact I haven't used more poor inkle loom for quite some time due to lack of time. Do you have Ann Dixon's Inkle Pattern Directory? It's quite helpful for making charts.

I love the colours! How do you know how tight to pull the weft to pull the warps together tight?

It's tricky and it really comes with practice as it's different to other weaving, you usually need to pull a bit tighter than you would think. A good way to tell is to look at your band's edges when you are winding on and it's slack. If you can see little loops or too many loose looking bits, you may need to pull in a little tighter. Practice is the key!

Hi. Thanks for this video. Can I ask what kind of cord you're using? I'm trying to get into inkle weaving and have no real idea where to start. I think this cord/thread looks different from what others have suggested. Thanks!

Hi Veronica, I'm using 8/2 mercerised cotton, I find it great for inkle weaving :)

Thank you! Is that similar to the size 10 mercerized crochet cotton found in common hobby stores, or do you order it special online or in specialty yarn shops? I'm used to working with macrame cords which seem to be more straightforward and easier to find when I search for them.

I'm not really familiar with crochet cotton, though I know some weavers do use it. 8/2 cotton can be found in any weaving supplies store, I buy mine online as there are limited options here in Australia.
