Oh hai :)
I had been playing with making time lapse videos of weaving on my IG account and wanted to show the process in real time. I find the videos fun but frantic and this shows the actual pace of weaving, which is a slow calm process for me.
I am weaving with my own hand dyed, hand spun fiber for the most part, with a few add ins like Boucle from Eve Chambers Textiles and some sparkle threads, etc. 2 100g braids of fiber are also from Sweet Georgia in Canada that my Mum sent for the project.
I am weaving on a 32 inch rigid heddle from Ashford.
Hope you enjoy! x
The makers I mention in the video are
Eve Chambers Textiles ( / evechamberstextiles )
Designs by Amber ( / designsbyamberfibers )
Sweet Georgia ( / sweetgeorgia )

Thank you, this looked ‘real’, I am waiting on my 32” Ashford rigid heddle to arrive, present from my husband. I suffer from joint pain, and spin in short stints. When I saw your variety of yarns I thought, great I have yarns like that.

I am so excited for you :) I was daunted by the size at first - there is a lot of different ways to set it up. Don't give up if its unwieldy at first. I like weaving on a low table. But there's also stands and some even do it on the floor. I adapt everything I do from chronic pain too. I wish you all the weaving enjoyment :) My partner even helps me warp mine because that part hurts the most. Enjoy!

Seeing the reed in full size is amazing I'm so use to just seeing reed portions on Amazon and also I notice you have plenty of comfortable working space without using a heddle loom stand. This is the most informative video I've seen so far thanks for sharing. Cant wait to purchase ours.

That is an absolutely stunning color mix :-) I hope to get my 15 inch cricket this week and I am so excited to start. I've watched everything KZfaq has to offer like it is a candy shop. Thanks for sharing this in real time. Your baby is adorable :-).

I like how you showed the join of new yarn. Also, I wanted to hear about whether to try a lap loom or a bigger table loom. Your comments really helped.

Lol we’re twins! I have dysautonomia, and have to work in small bites. I also got the big loom, for the same reasons, and had the same struggles. 😂 I just want to do it ALL! I have a little collapsible table that I put in front of myself on the floor, and I can prop the big loom against it to work while I sit on the couch with a pillow behind me.

Love the colours and splash of centre texture. Can we see it finished anywhere? I've got the 24" version with a stand; it would hurt my back to have to be leaning over the loom in the way you have to be working on a coffee table (I don't think I could do it for even half an hour) and drive me mad the way it moves every time you beat. I too have a little SampleIt for working on between my lap and the edge of a table, and that makes it very stable.

Yeah, the shifting around did drive me slightly nuts - I have a new coffee table now with hinges in the centre and I can anchor it on those now. I also have a floor loom now and much prefer the lack of sliding around lol. The finished shawl can be seen on my webpage (www.savvylikethat.wordpress.com) or my Instagram: instagram.com/savvylikethat/ xx

@@SavvyLikeThat It was even better off loom. Beautiful. You have lots of lovely things on your Instagram. I see you also have a Spears Loom - I have all three sizes and they are an excellent and inexpensive way in to weaving.

@@laceandbits I had to google what a spears loom was - but yes! I was given that by a guild member when I joined - they were happy someone was going to use it :) I need to put it together and try it out actually :) Thanks for the reminder! And the compliments

I love what you are doing! Do you know if you can get a variable dent heddle in the 32” size? I would like to make a rug with the warp in the middle being a thicker more textured art yarn that the warp on the ends.
