Your weber q is not just a barbecue it as a convection cooking system ideal for camping, picnics or days to the beach
The Weber Q1200/ Weber Baby Q doesn't have any big weaknesses. The Weber Q 1200 heats up fast and grills quickly and evenly. It has porcelain-enameled cast iron cooking grates that are a delight to cook on because they are non-stick, super easy to clean and maintain, and can even go in the dishwasher. The Q 1200 has a sweet, handy thermometer, and its 189 sq in of grilling space holds a surprisingly large amount of food. The Q would do well on your tailgate, on a picnic table, on your apartment patio, or as part of your RV setup.
You do have to carry it in hand, and it is not super light. If you want a grill that is easy to cook on, easy to clean, and simple to light and maintain temperature control with, the Q could be the one for you.
The Weber Baby Q 1200 is a strong contender. Service, sales, and parts are widely available for this popular brand. My experience with the Baby Q 1200 has been 2nd to none..
I've had a number of barbecues over the years and none compare to the excellence of the weber q. If You haven't already you should certainly consider the Weber.
The Q 1200 has one stainless steel burner tube that delivers. It heats up quickly, cooks evenly and leaves beautiful char marks. Cooking time on this Baby Q grill is less than expected for such a small product.
The Q 1200 makes grilling simple and fun. Its push-button electronic ignition starts with just one press of the button every time. It has an infinite control burner valve that allows the flame to be adjusted to clear low, medium and high settings, and the built-in temperature gauge allows for even greater temperature control. This grill does cool down quickly when the lid is open though, so when you're doing your flipping, make it quick. The regulator is attached snugly, and the grease trap is large, easy to take on and off, and comes with a disposable (or reusable) aluminum insert.
At 31 pounds, this is heavy for a tabletop grill. This Weber Baby Q grill has a cast aluminum lid and body which means no rusting or flexing, and a glass-reinforced nylon frame. This grill is sturdy and durable and will likely last a very long time.
This grill is simple to transport at the same time. You can grab it and put it in your trunk and then place it on a picnic bench which is simple enough, but you do have to carry it in hand . It is closer to average weight if you consider all of the contenders , but that's including the rolling, cart style stand-alone versions.
The Weber Q 1200 is built with the regulator positioned directly underneath the right handle. This means that with propane bottle attached you will have wks. if not months of barbequing with your weber baby q.
The Q's side tables fold inside for travel effortlessly, but you will want to make sure that it's completely cool before you do so as they are made out of plastic and could melt. We wish this model came with a latch on the lid. The lid is heavy, so it doesn't do much moving around, but if you're going four-wheeling to get to your BBQ site, consider using a bungee cord.
Cooking Area
This product has 189 square inches of grilling space on top of porcelain-enameled cast iron cooking grates. I love the porcelain-enamel. It's the bomb. It's a breeze to clean with a grill brush or a sponge and soapy water. It can even be put in the dishwasher. It's also dreamy to grill on and wonderfully non-stick. No worrying about non-stick sprays or oiling of cast iron - it will never rust. But don't use a metal or wire brush to clean it or you'll ruin the surface. Use a soft bristle or nylon brush.
The 189 square inches of grill space holds a surprisingly large amount of food. i am able to load it up with enough meat to easily feed 3-4 people.

I don't like washing if I don't have to! Another aspect as a con for re -use is; We travel and camp alot, often remotely, and for camping where possible. We take our Baby Q with us. If we used a re usable tray we would be wasting our precious water supply, cleaning it. Disposable allows the residue, in a hot fire, to burn off, for "hygienic"disposal. ...So when you put the remains/ aluminum residue into your trash bag or bin, it won't smell. The mentioning of locating the drain holes correctly IS very important! Any fat, not draining away correctly, is more at risk of pooling, overheating, splattering and getting on to the burners! We all have our likes and dislikes...I like disposable 😁

I can totally agree with what you said , i have the family q and bought this tray , thinking it would make life easier. To me it just adds to cleaning that i don't want to do. Plus the slots are missing to locate correctly so as you said i think they should make life easier not worse. I always find your reviews helpful and open. Thankyou for sharing as this is a product people need to discuss and there were no real consumer reviews out there.

Totally disagree with your review. Ive have three of them for each size. Never had an issues with lining up. Friends have them and we all love them. You make it like lining it up is critical. You put it smack dab in the middle of the plate and its done. The only time it warps is if you put it in by its self with nothing on it. As soon as it cools its straight. I put it in with a roast on it. No problem at all. But you work for Weber so why would you have anything nice to say if it takes money off Weber and saves us money. Put it in the dishwasher with a soak. Comes out perfect.

Sorry, but lining up is critical. That is why Weber design their convection trays the way they do. If not positioned correctly or they accidently slide out of position, or if the Q is not level, Fat drippings will not go between the grill bars, but drip or funnel directly on to the burners....risking a fire or flare up.

I just use a bit of aluminium foil and poke a few holes in it, does the same thing as a convection tray. The guy in the Weber shop gave me this tip and I think they mention it on the DVD that comes with your Weber.
@WeberEnthusiast
@WeberEnthusiast 2 жыл бұрын
I used to do that when first started demming webers . Then convection trays came out made life a lot easier . Less chance of fat fire and we had a few with tin foil not having holes in correct place or fat build up due to not flat. I still use tin foil if I’m desperate and have no trays . Thanks for comment and support really appreciated 👍🛎

The real trays are so cheap for a 10 pack, do a way better job and the whole point is to have the holes lined up nicely to prevent fat fires.

Problem is oven cleaner is caustic and flammable. Even after washing you still have possibility of flammable fumes
@duanehovenga2965

@@WeberEnthusiast if you wash with soap and water you will never have problem metal is not a sponge. After all you do clean your oven with it. If it being caustic is your concern you can spray vinegar on it. That will neutralize the lye which is what oven cleaner is. That is what i strip my old cast iron pans with never had a problem.

@@WeberEnthusiast Personally I don't use "oven cleaners" on my webers. But, they are made for exactly that purpose. How many of the millions of oven cleaner users around the world have flammable gas fires for you to base this statement on ?
@duanehovenga2965
@duanehovenga2965 3 жыл бұрын
Wow never heard that. But im sure you would not want to spray it in a oven that was on. I dont think lye itself is flamable. But the propellants are. Some common sense is required when using any propellant. When i clean our oven i always warm my oven up a little turn it off for a few minutes and then spray it down. I have been doing it like that for 40 years have not blown up yet. I would not clean an aluminum grill with it though the aluminum may not like it. But that stainless is ok though. I like your steam method for the grill. As always great video.

@@WeberEnthusiast sorry that I'm one of those that reacts on first impressions. My first reaction as I watched was that you seemed to work a bit to hard to knock the permanent one. May be the truth but I thought it was nit picking taken to the extremes. Talking about the grease coming off or that one has to wash it. Well, grease or oil is a permanent fact of cooking. On the qs the grill is designed to cover the burner. As to washing, grilling always involves cleaning. So if I'm wanting to lessen that I prefer foil. On my q2200 I use foil in the grease tray rather than the premade pans. All that stuff adds up to dollars. But hey, if you have the bucks to throw away, have at it. I have watched other videos of yours and have had no issues. And thanks for those !
