That was not merely good, it was outstanding, it was excellent, it was superb! I'm sure I heard Carl Maria von Weber applauding from above.
@jahwerx Жыл бұрын
How is this even possible? AMAZING. If the video was five minutes longer, it would have been five more minutes of applause.

There is something so quintessential about the combination of Weber's music and the clarinet. Bravo. Lovely interpretation of one of Weber's many fine works to show off the clarinet.

@@paino190 Double tonguing is typically not required for reed players, since the resistance of a reed provides more difficulty. Are you a clarinetist???
@Musix4me-Clarinet27 күн бұрын
@@paino190 Pretty sure it is single. The clear presence of the note beginnings and ends suggests it to me. Double-tonguing on clarinet usually has softer edge to the beginning and ending of the notes.
@Musix4me-Clarinet27 күн бұрын
@@MaddyLockman True. But double-tonguing on clarinet is standard today. When this recording was made, I was starting undergraduate studies. I had no idea how prevalent double-tonguing was until I started graduate work and started hearing European players, and later when KZfaq appeared.

OMG -- My Dear Sharon -- Just happened upon this. Once again -- I find myself completely dazzled and dumbstruck by you! How do you manage to do that -- time and time again?! Hoping you are surviving this ridiculous pandemic time without too much hardship and loss. The world is forever changed. I miss you, truly-- we must catch up soon!

You make me blush... This concert was long ago- my kids are now older than I was at the time... but this is how long I know you for and that is amazing!! We are all fine so far, but yes- life has changed forever. I am staying positive though and feel lucky to have a family who I truly love and a child at home to keep me busy :-) Big kisses and stay healthy!!!

This is an old "war horse" that has been played too many times by budding young artists with just a piano: They work so hard on the technical demands that they often forget it is not acrobatics but MUSIC. This event demonstrates a wonderful respect Ms. Kam has earned that such a fine orchestra is willing to schedule it in concert. Sharon is unique in preserving the subtle charms of this work at some of the Olympic paced passages presented here. Maestro Mehta is one of the last of the true orchestra leaders: Most today can't even beat time correctly and only lightly study the musical scores. Great presentation!

Also, the most dinosaur thing in the world is to crap on the younger generation. Who will be taking care of you when you can't eat solid food and are sh*tting in diapers? THE YOUNGER GENERATION. Ignorance in the highest amount, proving yet again that wisdom doesn't come with age

This piece has been played to death by students so I welcome some new life injected via fast tempos by a master player. It is played so often because it is short and conveniently classical, in a field where there isn't much choice. Students now have the piece by John Williams called "Viktor's Tale," which is better at showing what a clarinet can express.

Graceful legato, excellent kid and technical excellence, and at the same time a deep understanding of the written. However, a keen ear picks up a slight overtone, which gives out the fact that the musician is too busy and that it is useful for him to take breaks in the classroom.
