I watched your video a couple of days ago and picked up on your comments about Webers customer service. I accidentally chipped the enamel on the lid of my Premium whilst I was fiddling about with the lid hinge and dropped it! Having watched your vid I thought I'd see what Weber had to say and they're going to replace my lid free of charge! Brilliant Customer service but all thanks to you Tom, and your excellent revue. Happy grilling, all the best, Dave over in the UK.

I'm a complete newbie so pardon my ignorance. You mention about a limit of circa 5 hours for low and slow with the diffuser plate. But I've seen others using the snake method and doing pork butts for upwards of 8 hours. I understand the difference in the 2 methods. But to me it is possible to get an all day cook. Am I misunderstanding (a very real possibility 😂)

Thanks for the great review. Was thinking about getting this one, but migth consider a Summit Kamado version instead. Some sellers are suggesting to get a more practical Performer version, because of the tabletop. While having table is really practical, it can't get you additional slow cook hours :-) Wonder if you have any direct experience with the Kamado?

I recently picked this grill up from Costco for $199.99 with a cover included. Do you feel that the seal is comparable to the kettle premium if you remove it from the hinge and simply use the hinge as a lid holder? I noticed with the hinge my temperatures were hard to control due to the leaks and came down when I used the lid off of the hinge.

I sold my 6 year old Master Touch for 100€ to buy the Premium for a great deal 285€ - #1 reason the hinged lid #2 the diffusor plate. But I have to say I smoked many ribs & pulled pork on my regular kettle - 6 hours were no problem at all. So I´m wondering about those 4 hours? But with the regular one I only lid 5 charcoals and put those on the pile (one side of the grill) of about 50 unlid charcoals. Could it be that you started with too much lid charcoals? I´ve to try soon cause the new Premium is still unused ;) Greets from Austria!
@Gre4tOne
@Gre4tOne Жыл бұрын
perhaps you really need more charcoals because of the heat reduction of the diffusor plate. But after 3 hours of smoking I usually take my ribs/pp out to wrap them, so that´s the proper time to reload ;)
@tomwadek
@tomwadek Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I had an issue with the lid. It’s was out of spec and Weber warranted it. After the warranty, it improved a lot but I came to the realization that this is not a dedicated smoker. I added a gasket and that gave me about 6-7 hours of consistent temperatures. At the end of the day, I really want the summit kamado haha.

I don't know dude, even with an actual thick metal smoker you have to constantly be adding wood. I think you are emphasizing putting how much of a pain it is to add charcoal. If your gonna make a brisket I would use the 2 zone cooking instead of the diffuser so that you don't have to remove the brisket, just add more coals every few hours. Plus it has the added benefit that you can actually sear or just regular BBQ and you don't want to do that in your regular smoker. I for one love my Webber kettle, completely stopped using my regular smoker, my gas grill, and my pellet smoker.
