In 1973 Judy Skutch and Dr. Jerry Jampolsky met in an airport. Their relationship became the basis for the first consistent use of A Course in Miracles to try to heal a relationship. Judy, now 88, and Jerry, now blind at 95, share with you their challenging path from Specialness to Holiness with the help of the Scribes Helen and Bill and the Holy Spirit.
Biographical background:
Dr. Gerald Jampolsky was born in 1925 in Long Beach, California. He attended UC Berkeley for his undergraduate degree and served in the Naval Air Force during the 2nd World War. After finishing his MD in Psychiatry at Stanford Medical School, Jerry had a private practice that specialized in the treatment of children. In 1975 he received the manuscript of A Course in Miracles and began applying it to his life. The same year he founded The Center for Attitudinal Healing which now exists in 37 countries on 6 continents. He is the author of 16 books featuring the principles of A Course in Miracles.
Judy Skutch Whitson is Founder and Chairwoman of The Foundation for Inner Peace. She was serving on the Faculty of New York University when she was introduced to Drs. Helen Schucman and William Thetford, co-scribes of A Course in Miracles. They entrusted her with its manuscript and the role of publisher of the Course. She has been a student of the Course for almost 45 years.

🙏, PRAISE GOD, for your willingness to share your private , special relationship journey. I blinked back the tears, ( joy). Your transcendent friendships, and perceptions, thereof, touched my heart and illuminated my mind on a higher level. I love you and Jerry very much, thank God for you both .

There was a great question asked about finding a Holy Relationship. The person asked , "What if I don't find a Holy Relationship? Should I reinvest in a 'special' one?" The last part of that question was meant to be sarcastic, but it uncovered a kind of resignation that many of us might feel: we wish to be in a Holy Relationship (romantically or otherwise) but feel we may not ever "find" it, and so if we do want some sort of togetherness we just might have to "resort to" a special relationship after all. I think maybe a way to respond to that is to say that Holy Relationships are not found; they are created. They will more likely than not start out as special relationships, just as Judy and Jerry's did, and become Holy Relationships. But that just does not happen; it takes work. Each party has to understand the role that each is playing in maintaining the special relationship, and recognize what it is that is preventing a Holy one from emerging---which is our ego's insistence that the other is separate from us. Judy said it so well: we have to go from seeing the other as separate to having the vision of Christ, Who knows that the "other" is actually our Self.

It's interesting to me that many people involved in the early years were high end academics.

I found "Change Your Mind CYL" when it first came out. I knew nothing about ACIM until a few years ago, except as explained in CYMCYL. For the rest of my life I lived strictly by the story of the lady teacher who decided to put peace of mind in front of everything else. I still swear by the policy and It definitely changed my life. I also believe that I began to practice meditation because it was talked about in the book. I am so thankful for the book, the teaching and the reality I became aware of. Love and gratitude to both of you for this very personal, honest, important, tender, powerful and natural glimpse of your lives and feelings. I really needed this today. I see it as a beautiful gift just when I needed it.
