Good information guys thank you! The only things I want to say your white balance is wrong on most of the shots, no ND filters, shadows disappear. And I would recommend to get cinema cameras for your production! ✊🏽

Do you normally use 3 shooters in a small room with a dress and some details. Seams a bit much. What would the benefits be to have 3
@WeddingFilmSchool
@WeddingFilmSchool Жыл бұрын
No I typically like one person in the room. Jason likes to have 2. There were 3 because of the BTS -Jared

Great job! Amazing work. I just finished filming my first wedding at a higher end wedding yesterday at the Four Seasons..Was stressful but learned so much and got some amazing footage. Can't wait to start on the edit and submit it on WFS for your review!

Maybe I’m wrong but almost no morning prep captured. Don’t come to Ireland you won’t have so much time to set up so much for ceremony. You will be flat out from maybe 10am to 11pm.

We dont do much hair and makeup and if we do it’s 1-2 shots at the end. I’d rather get great detail shots. In this case they actually did hair and makeup in a seperate ballroom we didn’t even capture. You can see them transitioning during our intro of the film when I chat with the planner. Is one subtlety I’ve noticed between luxury films and country club films is the emphasis on this part of the day. To each their own of course. -Jared

@@WeddingFilmSchool very interesting. we would focus on morning prep a lot here. there would often be different kind of friendship dynamics between bride and family and bride and her bridal party. I see that a lot actually with wedding in the states. we see the people closest to them being very important where as you guys dont seam to capture or use that at all really. its for sure a huge difference between Ireland and America. The end resulting film is just so brilliant in so many ways all the same

@@HouseofRen I personally capture as much as possible during morning prep because it's the only time of day when the family has time to chill, talk, laugh etc. I like capturing those moments leading up to the big day and all of the small interactions. Sure I'll get some hair and makeup shots, but they're usually more creative abstract shots just for fun and visual interest. But I'm definitely looking for family/guest interactions as much as possible.

We mix it up. We switch between 24 and 60 FPS throughout the day.

Yep. Lots of hurry up and wait. 10 minutes of shooting followed up by 2 hours of waiting. Pretty typical at these weddings though.

I would have done my best to move the bride and groom with their chairs to the front. I wouldve given them a choice but explained to them how it's only going to make them look better, and how obstructed they'd be where they are. Regarding the first look, you've got a camera pointing right at the photographer. That angle had no real value. Setting it up for a profile angle on the same side you're on would've complimented your footage better. Could've also easily rotoscoped some of those awkward people reactions during the first look. It was distracting having them there. Regardless, this is all film maker critique. I'm sure the couple loved it 🔥.

How does that tilt shift compare to the Canon 45?
@WeddingFilmSchool

I’d say it’s close depending on which Canon lens ur referring too. I don’t think it’s as dreamy as the L but it’s very good.

wrong location for a first look =D
@WeddingFilmSchool
@WeddingFilmSchool Жыл бұрын
I have to disagree. This is where the very high end photographer and planner wanted to do it so it’s totally fine by us. It’s just not that important. Getting it done quickly and with minimal time outside for the couple (it was cold) was the priority. City weddings like this just don’t emphasize first looks (there are no locations without people) and they really aren’t important to the films we make.

First looks have to be the most overrated moment in a wedding. 9/10 it's a muted reaction from the groom and almost nothing usable for the film, especially if they're too planned and structured.

One thing I would suggest is moving the couple for the toast speeches. As long as you tell them it's to make them look the best for their reactions during the speeches, they usually are fine with it - unless they have some elaborate table setup and refuse. But you're the expert in lighting and video, not them.
