Hey D, catching this now....you are telling it!!!👏🏻✊🏻 Curtis nice words, just played some Curtis in the car and I must say the lyrics hit me like never before and I’m not sure why?? It’s not like I’ve been outta touch...can’t explain it... Some people think we don't have the right To say it's my country Before they give in, they'd rather fuss and fight Than say it's my country I've paid three hundred years or more Of slave driving, sweat, and welts on my back This is my country....mr Mayfield telling it ✊🏻✊🏻☮️ Have a good afternoon Dereck

Absolutely love Big Star. Such an overlooked gem of a band, those songs are so great. Alex Chilton, RIP. Fantastic. And of course, Chris Bell. Thanks for sharing.✌️ Great documentary. Mitch Easter recorded that first REM release.

Back to the world rules! Your encounter with the friendly new shop worker made me think of that great Wigwam tune ’Simple human kindness’. You have a good day Dereck.

"In the Court of the Crimson King" was in a jukebox at a Ft. Worth swimming pool in the summer of 1970.

I like Chris Bell's solo release. Do you? "Your sister says that I'm no good..." That song lives rent free here.

❤❤Curtis Mayfield. Another underrated gem in his catalog is “There’s No Place Like America Today” , and to my ears possibly his best sounding recording in terms of the mixing of instruments.

You mentioned Mercury Rev and watching documentaries and I wonder if you've ever watched The Fearless Freaks? It's a 2005 documentary about The Flaming Lips.

Love the two Matching Mole albums although they are quite different from each other. Yes, the band name is play on words for Soft Machine which in French is "Machine Molle". Poor Phil Miller was incredibly scared playing guitar on the second album with Robert Fripp being producer. Dave McRae was better suited for the band than David Sinclair. Sinclair preferred more song oriented material leaning toward ballads like "O Caroline".

What is it with regional sounds? Biglieto has a similar “sound” to stuff like Goblin which was from that era, but I also hear whatever this sound in more recent stuff like Be Forest. If I knew more about theory I could probably define it that way, but there’s also more to it. 👍

The race issue in America is so hot and sensitive that , Yes, what you experienced at the post office was probably what you think. Over correcting if you will. It’s not some inside knowledge, but I think it happens a lot. It’s coming from a good place though
