As a former squaddie -(UK) - and having been the nav/med in a unit I carry a lot of duct tape. I use old store cards to wrap it around in my own personal I-FAK. I have it in an S-O-S kit tin, my I-FAK, my edc, day bags and have small rolls on a plastic spindle in my packs and bergens 2 on my bikes - you'd use it everywhere. I've used it to hold casualties to a stretcher and drips on a stick in the field, close wounds, keep ammunition safe from weather and loss, fix basha's, tarps, tents, boots, ad infinitum.

I have the same trowel and have been thinking of wrapping the handle like that. Should go ahead and do it.
