Hi there! 👋🏻 We live on a 1-acre farm right in the middle of the busy city of Phoenix, Arizona! Our names are Kevin & DaNelle, and we moved here in 2009, when our kids Ethan & Lydia were just 6 & 4 years old 🥰 Over the years we've raised goats for milk, chickens for eggs, built a fish/swim pond, planted fruit & nut trees, and grew a large garden full of veggies. We've also raised a bunch of other animals like pigs, sheep, turkeys, geese, peacocks, and more!
Now that our kids are away at college, we have settled into doing what we love most -- which is raising & breeding goats ethically to improve genetics. But don't worry, we'll forever love our goofy pet goats like Luna the herd queen & Willow the stump lover. We also still love raising chickens for eggs, gardening, tending to the fruit & nut trees, and growing fish in the pond. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, yogurt -- and we use that + everything else we harvest on our little farm to make delicious meals. Having a getaway from the busy world right in our backyard brings so much joy to us each day, and we hope it brings some to you, too. 🥰

She has to have more than 3. I cannot believe how big that little girl has become. Olives mom Lily normally has 2 so Olive is an over achiever! Her babies will be so beautiful. Hoping you get a doe that looks like daddy! Hoping and praying that she makes it to her delivery date and has an easy labor!

My EXTREMELY large doe is due March 12th! She had triplet bucks last year and didn’t look as big as she does now… so im super excited to see what she has! Hoping your does kid safely and everyone stays healthy and happy

Olive is triple-wide! 🤣 I absolutely love my eight chickens, I can tell them all apart solely by sound or feel. They have incredibly strong personalities too! They have favorite foods, friends, enemies, favorite ways to be snuggled, and each spend their days in different ways. They are also by far the easiest animal I have ever trained. If you have a grub they will do anything! Currently working on making an obstacle course for them. 😁 Also, the soap is 10/10!! Great soap from even greater people. Would totally recommend. 💙

@@keastonz I’ll consider it 🤣 I’ve already taught them to be harnessed, jump, perch on my arm shoulder or back, twirl, and come when called with little effort. The hardest part is actually finding chicken sized obstacles lol

@@keastonz I haven’t met anyone yet who isn’t surprised at how sweet and intelligent they are. Most people don’t realize if they are treated like pets then they’ll behave like pets. 😊 Mine also fight over who gets to come inside and hang out with me to watch KZfaq. They like to sit on my chest and either peck the screen or take a nap. It’s very cute 🥰

You could have a opening that only the geese can get through so they have their own brooding area, keep the little goslings safe until they can be out with the bucks too.

For your pen-dividing gate: you could hinge one side to the wall and the other side to the outside fence. Fix pin holders - like on round pen panels on the "free" ends. Put the corresponding part of the pin holder on the wall /fence, then just clip them flat to the wall & the fence when you don't need them. Unhook them from the wall / fence and pin them together when you need to. Just gotta be sure the pin holders match up in the middle.

In my herd, I've noticed the lighter goats with white hooves, their hooves grow 3× as fast as the others. So there is an explanation for Luna's hooves growing so rapidly for you 😂

It might be better to wait until after the geese are done breeding and brooding before moving them. Moving their territory may cause them to not want to breed this year. I get they need space but if they're doing their thing where they are they should be fine until the goslings hatch.

How is Ethan feeling? I hope he stays healthy. I have allergies and we’ve been having the weather that is influenced badly by humans bad influences. You’d think this was winter in January and last week I had spring blooms all that the deer didn’t eat. So now I’m taking vitamins to help me fight this crazy weather. Oooh, I'm jealous of your growing season! We're up here flipping between 70s and sunny and 20s and snowy/icy. But our last frost date's finally creeping around the corner! I just finished setting up our tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, and tomatillos to start them early and plopped some mustard seeds in the ground along with some root vegetables. So excited for warmer weather to officially arrive! I hope Olive does well with her delivery! I'm anxious to find out how many babies she's hiding.

I am really surprised you can move mamma goose when she’s nesting! I’ve done it in the past with hens setting on eggs but it’s always a concern they will abandon the eggs!
