Tilly the miniature goat has 2 adorable baby girl goats. The only problem is, she isn't very nice to one of them. Watch to see how she treats her kids so differently.

Hi there! 👋🏻 We live on a 1-acre farm right in the middle of the busy city of Phoenix, Arizona! Our names are Kevin & DaNelle, and we moved here in 2009, when our kids Ethan & Lydia were just 6 & 4 years old 🥰 Over the years we've raised goats for milk, chickens for eggs, built a fish/swim pond, planted fruit & nut trees, and grew a large garden full of veggies. We've also raised a bunch of other animals like pigs, sheep, turkeys, geese, peacocks, and more!
Now that our kids are away at college, we have settled into doing what we love most -- which is raising & breeding goats ethically to improve genetics. But don't worry, we'll forever love our goofy pet goats like Luna the herd queen & Willow the stump lover. We also still love raising chickens for eggs, gardening, tending to the fruit & nut trees, and growing fish in the pond. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, yogurt -- and we use that + everything else we harvest on our little farm to make delicious meals. Having a getaway from the busy world right in our backyard brings so much joy to us each day, and we hope it brings some to you, too. 🥰

TO THOSE WHO ARE blaming us for Tilly rejecting her baby: There are times as a goat owner when you have to take action to save the life of a baby, EVEN if that means rejection. When we got out there at 3am, the black & white baby goat was cleaned up pretty good (good sign of bonding) and we just used the blow dryer to get her fully dry since it was cold out. Even though she couldn't stand well and needed help to nurse, we left her out there with mama because we didn't want to bring her in and upset the natural bonding that needed to take place. Unfortunately, we came out 4 hours later and the black & white baby goat was laying on her side in a corner of the pen all alone. She STILL couldn't stand or nurse. It was at that time we decided to take her in. We knew there would be a chance of rejection but in the case of a weak kid THIS is your only option - to bring it in, warm it up, and possible administer lactated ringers sub Q and tube the kid. A kid that cannot stand is a kid that cannot eat. The baby goat sweaters we made wouldn't not cause their mothers to reject them because we rubbed each mom's scent on them a week before.

I understand 100 percent Iam bottle feeding a baby now . Odd thing the next day we had two cats give birth one did not want to feed her kittens and the other momma cat took in all 3 kittens

Ignore those people blaming you. Two days ago my Pygmy goat, a first time mother, rejected the smaller goat and I didn’t interfere. I found him at the back of the stall froze to death on his side the next morning. I took him in the house crying and told my son to get the shovel to bury him but a miracle happened when I held him on my chest, his body became soft and stiffness was gone. He woke up and started jerking. He is now standing and I have put him, his mother, and sister in a large dog kennel with hay in the bottom inside my house. The mother has now bonded to him and now I am awaiting for this polar vortex to pass and him to bulk up a little before I put them back in the barn. If your mama goat isn’t aggressive towards him try putting him inside with them all and they will bond hopefully.

As a former goat owner you guys should squirt some of tilly's milk on the tail of the baby kid. If she is rejecting the baby it must be because you guys touch the tail too much.

I am not a goat person but with animals, there can be numerous reasons for rejection that have NOTHING to do with humans!!! You did everything you could!!!

Fran here, I know disadvantages of bottle feeding and people association, but in dairy cattle, calves are fed on a nipple on a board, connected to some milk distribution or bucket, or sometimes the bucket has a nipple, removing people food connection. Could the wee one be nursed that way, yet still be with her mum, yet supervised by you so the larger one doesn't steal the milk?

Okay so a name for the tiny black one is Tia. I say this because my nickname is Tilly and my other nickname os Tia and Tia and Tilly just sound so good together.

Tilly's little black one should be named Star or Moon, because she is a little wobbly, just like her aunt Luna!! Plus her colors would go with it!!

I've had ewe reject a lamb before when I was knew to sheep, I think It had a lot do with with me and my daughters going out and handling the new lambs to soon and not giving the mother the natural bonding time, most times the best thing to do if there are no visual signs of trouble is to just leave them alone for the first day or 2 before you just jump in there and start handing them. Not criticizing you all by any means, this is just my experience with my sheep. My family loves watching yours, keep up the great work.

I don’t think its because of the human contact as she had the babies without any humans there but Sadly, many animals will just turn their backs on what they consider a 'weaker' child.....it happens animals know which is the weaker one

We have noticed the 2 day rule applies to sheep more than goats in our experience. Sheep are more way likely to reject. I knew when I took the baby inside there would be a chance of rejection but in the case of a weak kid that is your only option - to bring it in, warm it up, and possible administer lactated ringers sub Q or tube the kid. A kid that cannot stand is a kid that cannot eat.

@@jackywaldon359 I have a night job, this happened to be the only birth I saw live without rewinding their live stream. She already had a baby and was licking it when the black and white one was born. The b&w one just kinda fell out haha. Thankfully it didn't have any sack stuck on its head... Because it set there wet for at least 10 minutes, even appearing to get stepped on at one point... And just because it was laying on its side kicking and spazzing Tilly finally took notice and licked its bottom for a short few minutes before going back to her first baby and leaving it kind of wet in the grass. I'm sure sheep are different than dairy goats- who should be friendlier even than other goats. And most goats probably have an easier time kidding than dwarf goats. Just speculation of course. From my experience with smaller animals like dogs and rabbits. The smaller breeds have riskier births and special attention must be paid to keeping them warm

Thanks for a "verbal" update! Such cuteness! Tilly got it done like a boss glad I got to watch it :) good luck with the baby. It happens with cattle too sometimes we get very creative before we resort to bottle feeding.

Hello! I have a question I’m hoping you can answer. I have 4 Nigerian dwarf does. They are over a year old. I also have a dwarf buck, who is about 6. Long story short, he got in with them and I’m sure they are bred, unintentionally. The issue is they seem so small compared to him. They are nearly as tall, just not even close to as wide. So I’m panicking that they won’t be able to deliver. Help, I’m use to Nubians 😂

I has to do with the age of the females and the genes. He is wider because he is older. That's not going to affect the birth weigh of the baby.
