This is one of my absolute favorite stretches of the entire series! The chaos of the ship dynamics; Kell, Lila and Holland working and fighting together (!) for the first time, plus just the conversations between the three of them are always SUPER interesting; Alucard sass; Holland sadness; THE ANTARI BINDING RINGS, MY BELOVED; “love and loss”; “stop fucking with the ship”- JUST EVERYTHING ABSOLUTELY ICONIC I can’t believe we’re at the end already next week!!!!

The softness in her voice when she talks about Lila and Kell vs the sadness in every Holland scene. I can't

I know that it must be frustrating for many people but kell deciding not to read the piece of paper and reclaim himself for who he is, him consciously deciding to stop being haunted by what his past was or what he could have been, him deciding that what he is now is good enough for him was genuinely one of my favourite parts of this book.

“It’s nice,” said Kell, “to meet someone like me.” Holland frowned. “I am not like you,” he said, and walked away. My poor KELL 😭 I can just imagine his excitement and then his heartbreak when he first met Holland. 💔💔💔

The parts that come next are so sad 😭 😢 poor Rhy. And poor Holland, you can’t help but mourn the life he’s had 😔

the whole Lila wound scene was so perfect! the fact that you chose Holland to be the one to find and save Lila that forces everyone to work with him was masterful

I remember screaming internally when Kell threw away the paper because I so desperately wanted to know what it said. Also the entirety of Part IX, Chapter Four was just sheer perfection, I so often don't actually find sex scenes sexy and just find them incredibly awkward to read but I LOVED that one. Also "stop fu**king with the ship will never not make me holler.

I love starting my Saturday by crying about these characters 😭😭😭

the entire rosenal scene is SO goddamn traumatic it HURTS man!!! but at the same time its one of my favourite parts - the way lila is thinking of kell and alucard while she's literally dying, the way kell is losing his mind waiting for her to wake up and keeps checking holland's spell, and the way lila kicks all the dead copper thieves and sobs against kell's chest!!! makes me SOB every fucking time. masterpiece.

No book has ever made me happier and yet no book has ever made me cry more! there is a reason this is my favorite series ever!!! ugh! so excited for fragile threads!!!!

Crying all over again because of Holland 😭 how I love this series

The experience of reading these books for the first time via audiobook when you hit THAT Part 9 Chapter 4 scene is... an experience 😂 Nothing like driving home from grad school and getting hit with the scream-worthy moment

I got my mom into this series (and now we re-read together all the time) but I distinctly remember that scene where Kell finds Holland asleep being SO important when she was first reading it. I, for one, have always loved Holland - from the very beginning. My mom didn’t. But I just remember THIS scene specifically, she turned to me and went, “I see.”

I'm literally sobbing, Holland needs so many hugs and kisses why must you do this to us 😭😭

I know I’m late to the party but now that I will finally be getting a hold of The Fragile Threads of Power this weekend, I’ve been refreshing. Listening to these videos and rereading has been fantastic! I first read Darker Shades back in 2020 and absolutely fell in love with it. Going back to it again has been an absolute joy. I remembered the larger plot points but had forgotten all the nuances. The witty banter in this book is top notch! Thank you V for writing such incredible books! I’m so excited to dive into Threads!

And then there's all the feels. Poor Holland, Holland saving Lila (!!!), the sleeping spell scene with Tyron, and I really did want to know what was on that parchment!

My favorite section so far! The juiciest part! As Kaitee Yaeko said while reading the ARC of Threads, everything is crashing together in the best way. This video has it all, the movie references, The Princess Bride & The Mummy, side note would love a Victoria movie list. Kell’s antari magic lessons… young Kell visiting white London and meeting Holland. Everything Maris. The Threads snippet.

I adore this book; it's my favourite of the series. And this video is probably my favourite of the readalongs so far. The black glass eye! Alucard! The rings! Everyone with trauma! Ahhhh! So fantastic!!!

I just love Victoria's excitement when she spoke about fragile threads of power involving the favour Merris will ask of Lila. Her excitement is increasing mine and I really look forward to reading it

All three of them are like *FUCK* LOL that had me cracking up over here...Also, V, I love seeing how excited you get when explaining certain parts, especially those that we as the audience love and feel excited about. The closer we get to the release of Threads, the more and more excited I feel! I'm constantly in awe of the way you weave your stories, and I just know that this next book is going to feel like home, just like the first trilogy has felt like home❤

I have loved this read along so much. There feels like Victoria has so much joy in the world, and it makes me love it even more.

This part of the story on the boat is my favorite in all 3 books! I don't know just them being confined to the small space in the middle of the sea and learning to get a long a little better just does it for me. Always left me wishing for just whole book on a boat lol

I feel like this part really sets up the finale. Not enough authors take the time to do that and too few do it so well. It's subtle, but it makes everything make sense in the end.

I adored Holland's backstory so much! Just like you said it, he is an antagonist, no villain! The way his story was woven into the story of the other Antaris is so pure. Everything could have been so different for him too!!
