The format of this video is such a new concept and really gives you a grasp on what college life is like. Most vloggers do a day in the life and it doesnt manage to encapsulate the experience as a whole. The video idea is such a game changer.

I think it's nice that you chat with your parents on a regular basis. I live in the Netherlands and here most uni students go 'home' to their parents every weekend or every other weekend.

My campus also has a Campus Cat! Although, nobody can agree to a name. Your week actually seems similar to my schedule. I admire that you don't seem to be overly stressed. Of course I'm sure stress is present, but you seem over all ok. I'm already very stressed and it's only my third week of Uni! I can't wait to see your videos for your third year! I am wondering how much actual free time - no exams, no papers, no revision etc. - you have in a Semester/ a Year. Because for me it’s getting increasingly hard that I basically have no more then two weeks a semester maximum out of my lecture free time that I don’t spend some hours a day on my desk writing useless stuff or being in an internship. (I’ll soon start my fifth semester; and I was like „ah! I won’t have that much this year because I won’t get a certain course“ aaand, I might get it, and another course was like: you like getting up at 6? I’ve got three 8am lectures for you! Yaaaay)

It's crazy how in the UK the schedule of actual courses are so light ! In France I studied biology and it was basically 8am-5pm every single day of the week. A bit lighter when the practicals were over but still. Don't know how I would've cope with that much "free" time 😂 Hope to see you in Cambridge one day to congratulate you!

Same here in Italy. Aerospace Engineering: 8/9 hrs a day of contact lectures, from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM every day, 12 to 15 different subjects, written and oral exams for each subject. No enough time to absorb, no free time, no lecture notes. If you aren't able to write your own notes or search for the most proper books, no chances to pass the exams. Once I attended an engineering course at the University of Bristol (UK) as a visitor for a week. It was like a kindergarten! 4 to 5 hours a day, lecture notes already on your desk before the lecture started, with the lecturer repeating them word by word. Exam was only written and the proof could be sent from home within a week from the end of the course. Erasmus students of Eng. in UK couldn't get their exams converted in Italy once back, because not comparable. Just another world.

My university (long time ago) started at 7.10....till 13.00 or 15.00 with 6 subjects 😂 it was hard, but I admit I never studied so much. I am sure our knowledge was never so deep as yours. Take care. University starts soon 👍

I’m always amazed at how little classes people have at uni. I mean I know there’s a lot of personal work but still. Rn I’m in my last year at a french high school in London (weird I know 😂) and I have school from 8:30-6 everyday plus at least an hours of homework every weekday plus at least 8 hours per weekend! I feel like next year is going to be a breeze 😂

Paige, I love your videos, really (I'm a recent follower but super big fan). I have 3 questions, may be very stupid, but I'm Italian and I'm keen on comparing our national education system with other countries. The first is: don't you use textbooks? I see that you have tones of papers and files but zero books (in Italian universities it's all about textbooks, no matter what you study). The second question has nothing to do with uni, but it's about a British habit I guess.. how can you have dinner at 5.40pm????? are you not hungry before going to bed? ahaha sorry, we have dinner at 8 usually. The last question is: do you know any other vlogger student in Cambridge studying humanities/less scientific faculties? I'm about to start my master in cultural event management in Milan, and I'd like to know more about the way you are taught this type of lectures. Good luck with your 3 year!! xoxo from Italy

Hi Paige, I will be starting Physical Natural Sciences this October in Cam, and I am wondering if you took Maths A or B for your first year? Kind of scared of how difficult Maths B might be... Thanks for your help!

I took Maths A, decided I’d rather go through a smaller amount of content at a slower pace rather than whizz through more topics and not have time to understand it 🤷‍♀️ Cambridge is hard enough as it is ahaha. Just personal preference though, you could always start with Maths B and switch to Maths A a few weeks in if you change your mind (quite a few people did this in my year). Also I’m taking it you know how the two maths courses work - Maths B people cover more content over the year than Maths A so have a slightly wider choice of questions in the final exam (everyone sits the same paper). In my introductory talk at Jesus in first year we were strongly advised to take Maths A as apparently in the past not many people taking Maths B had chosen to answer the B-course questions in the final exam anyway - not sure how true this is now 🤷‍♀️ I took Maths in second year as well and the fact that I hadn’t done Maths B in first year didn’t hold me back (they only assume Maths A knowledge) so it’s not a problem if you’re considering taking it in future years! Good luck starting, hope this helps and talk it over with your DoS if you’re still unsure ☺️

So, if for example i pick chemistry instead of physics as my "specialism" in NatSci, would I (incase of getting accepted) have pretty much the same timetable but substitued with chemistry lectures? I also assume most of the actual learning has to be done in your own free time? Which is still far better than any UNI in my country. 9-17 every day including saturdays, and even after that you have to study at home.

@@PaigeY It doesn't need to be stressful or something you work on, it can be lots of fun and actually a great stress relief when studies get intense. I'm in my Master's and really loving the little time off I get each time I'm making lunch or dinner. There are loads of great channels on youtube with student-friendly recipes, Madeleine Olivia for example. Anyways, I love watching your videos, you help me stay motivated for revision.
