The whole idea of the Stunticons being worn out vets sounds amazing, I would actually enjoy seeing Menasor and the Stunticons blaring Fortune Son whilst just hanging about or fighting some Autobots. Neat idea.

Here’s my pitch for the Stunticons in my personal canon. They were built as an anti-Autobot task force, designed to confuse the masses regarding who’s on what side. The team is composed of seven members: Motormaster (formerly known as “Nemesis Prime”) Drag Strip, Knock Out, Breakdown, Offroad, Wildrider and Dead End. While they originally served under Megatron and his smattering of soldiers operating out of the Nemesis’s remains on Earth, they eventually struck out on their own and took up residence in an abandoned junkyard. Dead End is the member of the team closest to his classic version. He’s still an eternal pessimist who complains a lot, earning him much ire from his teammates. Unlike his classic version, he forms Menasor’s right foot. Wildrider is where things start to diverge. Instead of being just a bad driver, he was once a fairly normal (if ill tempered) Decepticon goon driven mad by the combination process. Now, he’s barely anything more than a rambling savage and Menasor’s left foot. Offroad is the Everyman of the team. He doesn’t have the same oddities that ail his teammates; he’s just… a guy. A guy who’s starting to dislike his teammates for how over the top they are, sure, but still just a guy. He’s Menasor’s right leg. Breakdown is a bully burying his anxieties and insecurities under a tough facade. Picture him as TFP Breakdown with his G1 version’s colors and panicky personality. He acts as Menasor’s left leg (poor guy; he’s stuck to Wildrider). Knock Out is fairly faithful to what we saw of him in TFP. He’s a flamboyant Decepticon medic obsessed with his stunning alternate mode; basically Tracks as a Con. I’m kinda surprised Hasbro didn’t just make HIM the Wildrider substitute in Combiner Wars due to how well he’d gel with the rest of the team. Drag Strip is the Harley Quinn to Motormaster’s Joker- a quirky femme fatale trapped within a toxic relationship. (Yes, Drag Strip is female in my personal canon) She’s the right arm of Menasor. And last but not least, we have Motormaster, a clone of Optimus infused with Megatron’s CNA. Originally, he was “Nemesis Prime” (bearing more of a resemblance to OP), but rejected this after upgrading into a bigger, more powerful form. He’s a very hateful mech. He hates Megatron for making him in Optimus’s likeness, he hates Optimus for being the one he was “knocked off” from, he hates his teammates for being so dysfunctional, and he secretly hates himself for not being his own mech, instead being a hollow copy of OP.

I love your characterization of Menasor. That's going to be what I think of in my mind now when I think about the Stunticons.

Respectable characterization for the Stunticons, having them being the old vets makes sense for their general vibe. I always kinda envisioned them as a crack team of chaos insurgents, like a less formal Combaticons with Drag Strip the speedy assassin, Breakdown the paranoid gunslinger, Wildrider as the insane berserker, Dead End as the apathetic sniper, and Motormaster as the leader and brawler, but I dig that. I used to not be one for the G1 model, but the Magic Square kinda changed my mind. I see it like the Menasor frame is just an empty frame, sturdier and stronger than the typical combiner but needs an insane amount of power and a lot of control. So the limb bots attach on as power generators/capacitors and Motormaster fills out the chest as a central command unit, not only adding his own power but also coordinating between the individuals powering and controlling the limbs to marionette the huge, incredibly strong Menasor body, but the strain of this sort of system causes Menasor to be batshit crazy. Or maybe the headcanon is a cope. Hey, anythings a cope if you think about it hard enough.

I really like the idea of a jaded crew of veteran cons, really contrasts well with the hopeful enthusiastic underdog energy that most Autobots have. I also love the idea of Megatron finding these guys while street racing on cybertron to make ends meat. And is just like, “you guys want some space-weed?”

I like the Transformers Animated Dragstrip because it's a small change but I don't see how it can go wrong especially if dragstrip and deadend are younger, motormaster being a tierd old dad and I guess the other two can keep their normal selves.

By rewriting Menasor you made him Bruticus. If i was rewriting Menasor, i would leave only Dead End out of the whole team. And that would explain him being depressed : his buddies are dead and he is trying to avenge them. Maybe, he would be involved in a Shockwave's experiment, that makes him a mad zombie looking like TFP rendition of himself.

Ima just go ahead and say it: I love G1 Menasor. I love the cars-strapped-onto-his-limbs look. He's my favorite combiner that isn't called Abominus. Not saying this guy doesn't look cool, but I think there's a place for both looks.

Menasor/the stunticons is both my favorite Combiner/team and yet my least favorite G1 design. Dead-End is my favorite of the stunticons because i relate to his outlook on life, Dragstrip is my second because I love Racecars

For me, I'm torn on Menasor. On the one hand, I love him and his team. On the other, I recognise that he does have a lackluster design. Yet I still love it all the same. I think the best thing they should do when designing him is to take the G1 design and take cues from the original toy. Also, I do love the idea of them being a bunch of rowdy psychopaths with a whole host of psychological issues who are just interested in running into things and people. It's an interesting shtick

The regular version of this is actually really good and awesome from the reviews I've seen. Also a reason this might suck is because, while this is a lot cheaper, even tho it's covered head to toe with shiny paint, it's a lot cheaper than the normal version. Also I'm pretty sure that Transform Mission is just Generation toy. They both do idw stuff, GT have made a devastator and from the accessories that store in vehicle mode and are generic and almost identical to each other, while being really cool, to the engineering, they feel pretty identical.

It's weird that the best painted figures, like Muscle bear Tarn and toy world Devastator, are also the most painfully or frustrating to touch, I guess "look only" is a appropriate term here.

A long while ago I was trying my hand at my own Transformers continuity and in it the Stunticons were pretty important. Firstly they were inadvertently the reason why Orion PAC got to meet Alpha Trion (though that’s not hugely important). More importantly was that Cliffjumper used to be a Stunticon as pre-war they were just a crew of hand to mouth punks that trust no one but each other. However during a bank job Cliffjumper gets caught and is arrested. However when the war breaks out the Autobots are so desperate for manpower they’re willing to let convicts join the army in exchange for a reduced sentence. Cliffjumper signs up planning to bail to join the Decepticons first chance he gets, but ends up accidentally actually forming a friendship with Optimus and the rest of that unit to the point that Cliffjumper actually reveals his plan to Optimus (Optimus isn’t the leader of the Autobots BTW that’s Sentinel). Eventually Cliffjumper sees the bad stuff the Decepticons are doing and officially decides to commit himself to the Autobots despite their past differences. Okay, back to the Stunticons (kinda went on a tangent there. When the Transformers crash on Earth, the Stunticons are like the first season goon squad, like they can hurt you, but they aren’t a huge deal. Eventually Megatron gets tired of this and after a botched mission against rhe Aerialbots (both pre-combination) he hands them all over to Shockwave to be used as Guinea pigs for whatever. Shockwave uses them as test subjects for a variety of experiments resulting in most of the exaggerated mental conditions they’re famous for that beforehand were just aspects of their parts personality(ie Dragstrip was usually the first one to enter a room before, but now he has an obsessive compulsion to always be first). Shockwave also used them when testing the mental combination aspect of combiners which did not help their mental state. So while Devastator was the first functional combiner that was unleashed against the Autobots, Menasor was the first combiner artificially created by Shockwave (as opposed to the enigma of Combination). Menasor is unleashed during the Decepticon civil war following Megatron’s death between Starscream and Shockwave, though eventually Starscream wins before everyone is reunited under Galvatron. During Galvatron’s return to claim leadership, Starscream doesn’t believe that it’s Megatron and throws Devastator, Bruticus, and Menasor at Galvatron who defeats them all, killing Motor master in the process. Not long after the war ends, Cyclonus forms Galvatronus using the Stunticons to bring back Galvatron, but Galvatronus is stopped by the Primus reviving Motor master who takes back the Stunticons to reform Menasor, leaving Galvatronus to be defeated. Lastly there was a whole post war spin off idea that was just all the combiners in a spaceship travelling through space having adventures that was born out of the realization that the combiners as characters never get explored because they’re just the big guy in a fight, so i thought it would be fun to lock them in combined mode and let those personalities bounce off each other (though some have been modified from their G1 origins like Computron basically being Tony Stark but with huge insecurities about having nothing to add outside of his intelligence, so one episode would be all about “if I’m not the smart one, then what do I even add to this group?”) Oh yeah also for some reason I wrote a romance between Deadend and Dirge.

I have to say this. The only characters apart of Menasor I. I. Like is offroad, Breakdown, and Deadend. One is because of Cyberverse, another is because a prime, and last is because of a story that was made for an exclusive combiner with three repeats and a aerialbots, and one of the repaints is toxitron.

I have to say this, it’s wonderful how collectors can collect the same things and like completely different things, because is see this and I just think “wow I need to transform this 50 times at least” great video 10-10

I like your Idea for Menasur. I could even see them having their Bio personalitys, but very much dulled down and withered from years of fighting. They could have been a dysfunctional team, only to grow to be a well oiled machine through years of being stuck together It would also help diversify the Combiner Teams a little Also, I completely get it. Every time I see a shiny figure for sale I have to drag myself away from it in fear of buying it because it is shiny.

In the G1 cartoon I like how the stunticons are just known to wreak havoc on the roads and pose much of a threat to most of the autobots, even when motormaster played chicken with Optimus. I kind of wished that the cartoon or even if they show up in a later TF cartoon show that they're a dysfunctional team that still manages to work well and even pose a threat to even the Decepticons because of how reckless they are regardless if they were trying to help or not. I have a few questions for you 1 how do you feel about wildrider being replaced, and is it true that he quit because he was tired of losing? 2. If you watch Cyberverse what do you think about dead end and how the rest of the stunticons not appearing? 3. If you've played TF devastation what do you think of that menasor?

to be honest, your idea of a vet decepticon team which members get along fits a lot more the Combaticons (for obvious reasons) than the Stunticons. Also, realistically, G1 Motormaster would essentially be enormous in comparison to the other stunticons, so cartoon menasor being Motormaster with cars on his limbs works

I like your idea for the team but I feel the war vet story could be better suited for the combaticons. My personal head cannon is menasor is the first combiner where the decepticons used random bots as the first experiment and the first time combined and personality merged gave all the stunticons their traits like deadends depression, breakdowns paranoia, dragstrips competitiveness, wildriders psychosis and motormasters inferiority complex, the stunticons would be the team that’s off to the side doing what it is they do which I think would contrast the combaticons being a well oiled commando squad and the constructicons being the well organised construction crew.

in my opinion the best menasor out there is the fansproject one just because unlike every other fucking one he isn't just a robot with cars slapped onto him his arms are actually completely made out of the stunticons and his calves are actually made out of the 2 lambos it looks amazing and is what a combiner should be at the very fucking least it just really pisses me off that menasor is even considered a combiner like he's the runt of the combiners and it just makes me angry that the legacy menasor is gonna be the exact same fucking thing every other company is doing rather then doing a nice stylized version

I’m kind of excited for the legacy Menasor, because we still really need a good Menasor. I just really like the stunt icons. If you don’t, that’s ok. But I still think we need a good representation. Because most of the good figures in insanely complex, and stylized so they won’t fit in g1 or movies. And the ones that aren’t really stylized, well….. combiner wars. And the good non stylized Menasors, are too big, unless you collect only masterpiece, and are an actual financial idiot.

PerspectiveEnd is gonna hate me for this, but whatever. Menasor is my favorite Combiner ever, and I love how stupid his G1 design is, and I'm not being ironic. The thing is that I like to think to myself how a proper redesign of Menasor could make him look cool and, perhaps, _menacing_ . Oh, and I also believe that he is indeed the strongest G1 Combiner.

Surprised that you never pulled the trigger on the PerfectEffect "M3 Intimidator" (a smaller CHUG scale IDW Menasor). TransformMission...idk, but I suspect that much like Warbotron with their Bruticus & Computron - *especially with the way that face sculpt looks* - well...the only suspect I can come up with is Generation Toy. They have to be. That face looks WAY too similar to Gravity Builder. Meanwhile...Jinbao Devastator & upgrade kit: WOW, that thing is amazing and makes the Jinbao Predaking look like a joke.

Honestly I like Menasor and the Stunticons more for my own made up version of him rather than any canon appearance he’s had. My version of The Stunticons are young reckless idiots to me basically, made a combiner by Shockwave since they were expendable. They’re a the rookie team which can’t get along, with even their combined mode not working half the time, made up of a bunch of teen boys who are always fighting over stupid shit (even while in the middle of battle). Basically I think of them as comedic characters who are only a threat because of how unpredictable they are and how SCARY he can be when they actually work as a team. Idk, when I heard ‘Stunticons’ I couldn’t help but think of young men drag racing and doing stupid shit in their cars. But your version would probably work better as an actual team in a transformers story lol

From what I've heard about this set, the gestalt is the WORST part of it. Each of the individual bots on their own are excellent in both robot and alt mode, so most people keep them that way. Also I have to thank you for getting me into picking up the MMC Combaticons. I LOVE that set.

Thank god I'm not the only one who thinks little of the stunticons, not only are they aren't as fleshed out as most would think but yeah their combined mode looks like one of the laziest combiners that came out of g1 and any design to fix the original is worlds ahead of them imo. Like I don't understand why some people think a big gray and black robot man with whole ass cars plastered against his limbs looked so cool, at least the idw design is one of the best.

I really like the head sculpt but those horns look like they’d snap off quiet easily. I realise you didn’t want to handle it too much but what were your thoughts on the plastic? Was there any diecast in it? Also I know you were worried about the chrome chipping but did any of it scratch off during the review?

Generation toy, transform mission, and Warbotron are all the same company. All of their combined forms should be around the same size. Generation Toys defensor seems to break that sadly

i don’t know if someone mentioned this in another comment already, but to answer your question of if this company either rebranded or was just a one-off for another company: i vaguely remember reading somewhere that transform mission and generation toy were both offshoots of warbotron, aka the only company that can make the technobots look cool.

Does this set come with a small Optimus figure? I saw Emgo's review about it, which btw looks pretty good, doesn't fauxform and has a very good use of parts, it might have some proportional issues but looks great anyway, also and he said that transformmission is Generation toy (those guys who did the IDW Optimus and a devastator I think)
