Hiya and what a great video, thank you. Such a shame some of those products are only in the states and not here in the UK, the Boeshield for one. A tip I picked up from a machinest from Kentucky was to keep his tools in cupboards with a 100Watt old style, (not led), light bulb burning away 24/7 keeping the tools and air just warm and dry enough to prevent surface rust. The oil coat is an old way of doing it and it still works. Looking forward to the next...

Wonderful and informative. I too, have spent money more than once. Early on a vendor convinced me to buy a lightweight block because, why carry around something heavy. Well, it has very deep dings in it. Never again. Also, appreciate the different products one can use to clean and protect. Look forward to your upcoming video on how to refurbish them.

I’ve been eyeing anvils lately but have not pulled the trigger on one. Never Dull looks like it might be fiberglass with a chemical added. Am I wrong? Love the last tip; I often am of the opinion that “cheap” is too expensive. Because like you said, you just end up buying it twice.

I've been eyeing the Pepe Tools bench block. Apparently they're hardened to 57HRC. The 4x4 that I have is essentially tool steel. Perhaps 45-47HRC. It has dings. As such, I keep one side free from marring, and mostly use the other side for usual hammering. I'm a little surprised that no one is offering a Sorbothane base instead of rubber. It's a fantastic material for absorbing vibration and expelling it as heat. Arguably some of the best available. Not inexpensive, nor is a quality bench block. I use it with my 4x4 and a rubber one with a 2x2. The only issue with Sorbothane is that it's kinda sticky and can attract dust. Unfortunately I don't own an anvil, though I'd really like to have one, maybe 75lbs or so. Not very big. Instead, I use a ground and hardened block of tool steel with well-defined 90* sides. Maybe 35lbs or so. It's common for a machine shop or a metal manufacturing facility to have bins of scraps. Some can be used as bench blocks and anvils, and the steel is fairly inexpensive. Last I paid was a $1/pound for S2 steel. Perhaps there's something like this is available in other folks' areas. Are you guys familiar with draw filing? The file is placed perpendicular to the surface. If the handle is on the right side, the file is pushed forward. Left side, and the file is pulled toward you, which I personally find to be more effective. This can be used to smooth out dings and abrasions, particularly if your bench pin has an anvil. There's a bunch of videos illustrating the process, though I would caution folks as to whom they choose to learn from. If you decide to try out the technique, practice on something first. Good luck.

I bought a 6 x 6 three-quarter inch block and I love the size but it is so much louder than my 4 x 4 block even with a pillow underneath it. Can you tell me why and what I can do to make it quieter? I don't think it's the quality of my Pepe tools block but I sure like the size and I can't find one at Pepi tools that is that size.

Can I use that Never dull stuff on files?
