the best part about this was that we finally, after all these years, got confirmation on the difference between a puppet and a Muppet.

For me, the best part is that the Muppets became really popular on their own and get a big crowd reaction when they're on, but when Jim Henson was first starting out with the characters in the 70s, they were originally part of SNL, and both the audience and cast members hated them.

The funniest part isn't Seth or Kermit's clever comedy, it's really that the original cast and writers of SNL hated Jim Henson and the Muppets, and now they want their felt friends to appear on the show more often. I mean really, that's not too bad for a bunch of Mucking Fuppets.

Yeah and the funny thing is that the famous sketch Land of Gorch existed in the first season of SNL was that Jim Henson feared he was going to be typecast to just doing children's shows like Sesame Street. His agent Bernie Brillstein, who was responsible for getting Gilda Radner, John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd on SNL helped him create and write for episodes of Land of Gorch, which he said he created out of desire to appeal for an adult audience. Henson felt they were trying to write for situational comedy rather than staying within his intended story. Frank Oz eventually agreed the partnership between Henson's team and the show's writers was imperfect, and was thankful they moved on to The Muppet Show.

While he didn't host this, he did once fill in for Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show in the late 70s. A few other Muppets also made appearances during that show. I think it had something to do with "The Muppet Movie" being released at the time.

This is my favorite part starting at 2:08, and it's true. Besides Kermit is the only talking frog in the world. Although there are few more froggy Muppets that can talk, that I've seen from Jim Henson's Muppets and the Sesame Street muppets. Because I remember there is Robin the Frog Kermit's nephew. I was a bit lucky in school -- I went to a Catholic high school, and the cafeteria ladies were actually grandmas and aunts of some of the students, and made *real* pizza from scratch once a month. It wasn't the crap that passes for pizza in most schools today -- not restaurant quality, but it was still damn good. But even they wouldn't have called pizza a freakin' vegetable.
