The writer in question, John Mulaney, loved making Bill Hader break character, so he continually threw in little addendums for Bill right before he went on live, so not only are rhe lines horrendous to read period, some of them Bill had never seen before he went on air.

This will always be one of my favorite sketches because it makes bill corpse (almost break character) all the time and I think that is one of the funniest things ever. Because what bill is saying is so outrageous and stupid it’s funny. If it weren’t for John initially wanting to pull a joke on bill idk if this sketch would have carried on this long.

Yea Mulaney did, and he also slipped in surprise things to be at clubs and most funny parts were “stephons” descriptions of what things like “human kite” was that most of the times he would be reading them for the first time then, live. Making this even more fun and impressive. If u haven’t watched John mulaneys comedy stand up you should.
