Another great video Pam. I am smiling at your husband in back ground working away. Behind every gardener woman is a man who does all the behind the scenes projects. Beautiful garden it is really taking off. That Huckleberry fudge iris is amazing!!!! I have to have one for my garden.

I do love the interesting color of HF iris, I share another shot of it in my next video that shows how dark of a brown it first blooms in then starts to fade.

I really love that you are not afraid to inject some orange colors. Not just peach, or apricots, but shades of orange and deep golds, and not just in autumn but also in spring and summer. So many gardeners reject them, but I love orange shades. I'm guilty of buying seeds for plants I don't know much about to try new things. This year I tried one, and the drawing on the seed packet was not in color, so I didn't really know what to expect, but the seed was for a plant called "Tassel Flower." It has turned out to be the cutest little pumpkin orange color! It almost looks like a miniature thistle, though it's not stickery at all. I've been thrilled to have it, though it's not a big showy plant in my garden, just the cutest little thing at the front of my border. But it goes so well with my orange dayliles, and tiger lilies and cannas and contrasts so well with all the purple shades. Anyway, I am truly enjoying all your videos. I love all your Irises and Roses too, and so many others. Thank you!!

I didn't used to like orange for some reason but now I love it and pop it in wherever I can. Tassel Flower sounds interesting, I need to look that one up, thanks for the inspiration!

. hello Pamela, I have to agree, this 'I dont like Orange, Red, or bright Yellow' that some of the other big youtubers profess sounds so phoney to me and it's become a thing.

@@FlowerPatchFarmhouse Tassel Flower 'Irish Poet,' Emilia coccinea, is the one I have. I found it at "Select Seeds." Today, I found it again there and they do have a photo of it. Be aware, they say it self-sows. I think I'll be happy about that! Apparently the orange color is more rare, but there is also a more common Red version that I think might be nice too, for those who like the hot colors.

I am sure we could talk for hours about plants. It’s also a rainy day, a PJ day 😄 I’m not complaining because we are officially out of drought. I just drained several water tanks yesterday as it was dry and of course it would rain.😅 The irises and clematis are really showing off here as well in WI. Love that white iris 😍 ooo and the orange beard with the orange flowers 🤩 and purple-striking! The Mullien are blooming this year and first time growing-they are very nice and thought they would be taller, but we’ll take it. The Mock Orange is blooming 2 weeks early, I have Only 1 plum on 3 trees because we had frost on all those blooms🙄, but it’s been one of the best springs in a long time. The poppies are planning a takeover and the bee balm is fighting back and the poor Amberness rose is saying Move Over! And a monster Hollyhock is threatening Julia Child (rose) and she’s ready to chop him up 😂. I always said if you can grow in this poor soil and micro climate you can stay, but I don’t know 😉. The Butterfly Weed is also getting in on the game as they pop up between pavers. I’m finding coneflower, Columbine, poppies and lemon balm in the veg garden-Yikes! Then I started Lauren’s Grape, Jimi’s Purple Haze and Lucille poppies because they didn’t take last year-What have I done?!😂😂 And they look healthier than the basic reds taking over😅. Must dead head this year. Gotta go drain the last of the flats as they all are swimming I’m sure. Great tour and nice chat! Ok, so I saved the drowning plants and finishing vid and you showed a Snowball shrub. I must get one. We had one in the yard of the home I grew up at and miss it. I could get a snip of that one if I could bring myself to go there, but it’s an emotional thing. And I just planted a New Dawn this spring 👏🏼👏🏼.

With the gophers have you ever tried planting toxic plants like foxgloves, or strong smelling plants like lavener/sage. I don't deal with gophers but I have deer and rabbits, and they seem to leave my stuff alone because I have one of those plants like every few feet.

Does anyone watching do Iris hybriding? My Gma created 5 and are listed under the name Inez Kendall in the International(?) Iris Society online but there aren't any photos and I'd love to know if anyone ever finds or creates any of them to let me know. The names are: Hi-Fi. (1956) Sun-Son. (1967) Boise Rose. (1973) Lemondrop Kid (1973) Orchid Quest. (1976) She was also given many blue ribbons for her irises. And now a question. I'm getting cattle panels for the first time this year and will use a fence or T-posts but when you make an arch from it, do you use concrete or do they do fine just stuck in the soil? p.s. I always loved Gma's "root beer" iris, too. 😊

The arbors I have are made in such a way that they have spikes on the ends to push into the ground. The one in front with the Eden Rose on it is also attach to wooden tree stakes for stability. It didn't need that until a large conifer tree landed on it smashing it to the ground, so now it has a weak spot which buckles under the weight of heavy snow. These are specially made with a thick piece of rod as the frame, they aren't just a cattle panel.
