This time of the year the weeds are taking over. I've been weeding a lot yesterday but your 'weeds' are beautiful violas or pansies 🌸🌝

Yes the weeds are loving this warmer weather, and not all my weeds are violas but I have been resorting to the heavy handed measure of the weedeater to clear walkways and around the edges now.

I loved the tour. I think opening up that space behind the Primrose cottage is a great idea. That will look very cool. I was surprised to hear you say your gopher doesn't eat your phlox. I wish the ground hog in my garden read that memo. Thanks for the tip about the golden sage. That looks like a great plant. I grew purple sage that was an excellent deer resistant plant. The golden sage looks gorgeous and I'll need to add to my wish list.

@@FlowerPatchFarmhouse What a coincidence. I tried (UNSUCCESSFULLY) to grow ornamental oregano this season. I ran into a soil issue that ruined a few sets of seedlings. I want to try growing the oregano as well. It looks stunning. Let me know if you give it a try this season.

Love the white iris with purple ruffles! We just had our first strawberries of the season! Yum! The 5” of rain this past week really plumped them up. Surprisingly fragrant. You can do the vids whichever way is fine with me as when I have downtime they are always pleasant to watch. Today I tackled those CN thistle and poison Ivy patch. I tilled it and threw in a ton of collected seed. I know I will need to battle it further, but I’ll get it. Also took out volunteer potatoes so they don’t crowd other veg like last year-it will make a nice salad. Big decisions on where to place your energy as I wanted to get squash and melons in today, but those nettles can get out of hand fast and glad it’s done. Plus it’s far away from water and as long as it’s been raining I needed to get those seeds in. Oh man, I had more seeds than I realized 😂 and I still have a lot left and I tilled 20x30” patch!😮 I sometimes read the transcript with video-you will get a laugh at this-when you talked about getting braces it said you were six!!😂😂. It apparently didn’t believe what you said either😂😂.

Hi Pam, great idea to break up the videos into manageable segments for yourself and the viewers. I love the cottage garden style where it is relaxed and natural. It's why I enjoy your content, it is real life not manufactured for KZfaq. Maybe a weird question but your pathways, is it dirt and mulch? I am wanting to do something similar to an area of my garden. I laid some cardboard down last fall so not too many weeds but the cardboard deteriorated. Should I put more down and then mulch on top to create the walkway? I love the foxglove, Iris and poppies they are gorgeous. I had a potted hydrangea in one of those self watering pots and decided to remove it to put into the garden bed. Well....the stink when I dug it out was awful, the soil was SO wet it was like soup in the bottom. I will not be using that pot again. When it rains it fills up with water and created a swamp in the bottom. Oh that Coleus is absolutely gorgeous!!!!! Wow great buys!

Some of my paths I top up in the Fall with used coffee grounds from the local coffee shop then put the pathway bark on top. The grounds are free and they make a nice thick layer thus I use less bark. I get this one at Lowes: www.lowes.com/pd/Garden-Time-2-cu-ft-Brown-Garden-Bark/3731889 I think Home Depot has it too. I like that is small bits and not big chunks that can making walking (I have weak ankles) more treacherous. I used to buy the red fir bark mulch in bulk but the place I used to get it from no longer carries it. It was much cheaper buying it that way. I don't bother with cardboard.

@@FlowerPatchFarmhouse Thank you! I can get free coffee grounds from Starbucks! what a Canada so I don't think I can get that mulch but I am going to see if I can find similar one.

Yes, the self watering pots can go anaerobic if you get a lot of rain and never let them sit with soil over winter. I do like them because we’ve had severe drought, but we just had a week of rain totaling 5” and we only had 3.5” all summer last year. So I may have to tip mine and drain some water.

There are times that you mention a plant by name and I am not familiar with it. I try to look it up but I don’t know how to spell it. It would be great if you could put the name of less common plants on the screen for us. One today you mentioned several times, one time at 2:14.

You might be referring to the acquilegia aka Columbine, this variety is called Black or Brown Barlow, the others in this shot are the self seeded foxgloves and the Monarda aka Bee Balm. It is either the red or the Purple Rooster variety.
